Yet ANOTHER New Start!

Saturday, July 28, 2012

I've probably written before that seeing my mom's poor physical condition is an incentive to get into shape before it's "too late," but as is so often the case, when time passes since seeing it first-hand, the motivation also fades. This time, though, she ended up in the hospital yet again. And I am certain it was due to improper eating and getting overtired. Insurance will pay for most of her bill, BUT she has lost much of the strength she gained in rehab after the last hospitalization. SO, if I want to avoid that fate, it's time to get serious! [Again!] I found in a file a Spark article about measuring functional fitness and what each test targets. Whatever your age, this article will inspire you, I'm sure!

BTW, she turned 94 on July 26!

emoticon I do pretty well except for the flexibility-I need to work on that. I am 51 and by the time I am 60 I should be better not worse!

Thanks for your concern and kind words. I should have mentioned that she IS out of the hospital and back at her assisted living facility in the rehab section. But, if she goes back to her old habits, it could become a repeating cycle. I should learn a lesson here!

Thanks, I'll check out the article.
I'm sorry to hear your mom had to be hospitalized. I know it's hard to think about taking care of yourself when you are worrying about her. Still, like you say, it's a remnder to never, never, ever give up when it comes to taking good care of yourself and working to get more fit and healthy.
