Riding the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail

Thursday, July 26, 2012

Ohio has some of best trails I've biked on and the Ohio Erie Canal Towpath Trail was another fun one. Also one of the busier trails with lots of riders and walkers despite the heat. I rode from Massillon up to Lock 4 Park in South Akron, where most of the pics were taken. Rode about 7.5 miles one way of more than 81 miles of the trail, it continues north to Cleveland and the shore of Lake Erie. Didn't have the time or a seat padded enough but maybe one day :) Enjoy

I ride the Towpath through MD and WV, it's awesome. In the fall I was up to 28 miles in around 90 minutes. So much fun!

Sounds like a fun ride! Thanks for posting the pics. I just love the mid-west and all it's green landscape. You'll need to get one of those padded seats!

Trains are my hobby and the Erie Canal helped develop railroads indirectly/directly. We have a rail-to-trails park that will ultimately take us through the White and Arkansas River bottoms for 50+ miles. Beautiful pictures.

I love seeing how the Locks and Canals work. We went up to Lake Superior locks at Sault St. Marie a few years ago!

Keep up the great work!!!

I got a really fancy Peugeot bike when we were stationed in Germany,I almost choked when I realized how much it was worth in North America ! So I have a fancy soft seat ,as long as I keep riding LOL I am worried it will get stolen if I stop somewhere !!!!
