Ho hum, same old same old with my WI!

Went to WW and had WI - up 1.7 kgs - down last week, up this week!

I need to track and exercise - how many times do I need to say/do this!

Yesterday I managed 5 minutes on the exercise bike. While that is not much, it is better than I have been able to do. I took all the tension off which made it easier. Another ride is on the agenda today - hopefully longer than 5 minutes.

Had a great day yesterday despite the gain - the meeting was great, and my friend and I then met another friend, and we went with other friend and she bought her iPad. We are so excited for her. We set it up and got her some games, and left her to it over night. I created her an Amazon account and an iTunes account. She was a bit overwhelmed - so we didn't do too much the first day! LOL Her DH has been in a nursing home since he was 61 - now 70. He had a cerebal bleed. All her children are out of town, and she worries a lot and was feeling a bit down ... so bring on the iPad! We so enjoyed ourselves, went out for lunch after the purchase, shopped and then had afternoon tea in town, then back to WW friend's house to set up the iPad. I left home just after 10 am and didn't arrive home until nearly 6 pm .... luckily I had put a meal in the slow cooker! LOL

Today I am waiting for the appliance man to come to replace the faulty part in the dishwasher, so I need to stay home until he comes.

i managed to get some dried black turtle beans yesterday at the fruit shop. I see so many recipes that use black beans on spark people and didn't know what they were really. Are these black beans that are mentioned in the recipes? Just interested. Thought I would cook some up and see what happens! LOL Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Now for breakfast and then I am going to try a Blackcurrent tea - my friend had it in NZ when she was there - so I googled it while at lunch, found it is made by Twinings and the 3 of us bought a little packet yesterday!

    We LOVE our I-Pad and use it all the time! It makes for a perfect photo file in our consignment gallery to show customers furniture that we have...but don't have the room to display in the gallery. We are stuffed to the gills at the moment.

    So wonderful that you met this new friend and can offer her some companionship...I say friends are what makes the world go round! Hugs to you.

    I can buy black beans in a can here at the grocery store in Florida..they are good. I think I've seen them dry in the package also, but I never seem to remember that they have to sit in water overnight so end up usually just using the canned ones and rinsing them well to get rid of the excess sodium.

    We love black beans and often have them as a side dish over rice with raw onions and hot sauce! Yum! emoticon

    Sandy, I didn't know you could get black beans here, I'm not sure if the turtle ones would be the same. My S-I-L who at 78 got an iPad and she took to it like a duck to water. It is so user friendly especially emailing. emoticon

    I am still learning to use my iPad and need to learn how
    to turm the volume down. DS has an iPod but I'll pass
    on that until I learn how to use the other first.
    Track today and see if this doesn't make a difference.

    I regard up a lb, down a lb as just a plateau (because you know weight fluctuates on its own from day to day). I'd just increase my exercise a bit next week. The black beans we see are smaller than the red beans. I substitute any beans I like or have for any recipe that calls for black beans.

    I think I need to make a plan - I don't get up at a set time, although now that I am off all the pain killers since the injection, I am not sleeping in as late - I could be up by 7 or 7.30 though. The first thing I head for is a coffee - maybe it should be the exercise bike!

    GG, What time of the day are you up in the morning/ how early? What time of day are you 'exercising" I use the term lightly at this point. You need to do like I do First thing in the morning get it done.. You get the adrenalin going and the feel good endorphins and the energy lasts a good part of the day!

    Have never heard of Black Turtle Black Beans, but I eat a lot of black beans. If they are the black beans like I am thinking of, make sure you wash them well. I alway soak mine over night, cuts cooking time. It is more of a Cuban dish, love it as a soup with raw onions on top or over rice. Enjoy!

    A point they made on Extreme Make Over Weight Loss was that after you do an exercise 6 times or days in a row, you need to swap them out or your weight loss stalls as your body is used to it.
