I am focusing on developing one healthy habit at a time until all of my healthy habits sustain me at a healthy weight.
So far, my unhealthy habits have worked to sustain my unhealthy weight, so why I can't I turn it around? It took time to develop each of my unhealthy habits which is why it will take time to replace them with better ones.
July 2012 has been my start. I began to exercise every day for at least 10 minutes just like Chris Downie recommends, and guess what? I think I have a new habit! I did NOT exercise every day, but I did exercise ALMOST every day. Some days I only did the 10 minutes, but usually I have done 30 - 40 minutes.
I've been using workout videos in my home and it's been fun! Even my 18 year old son joins me now, but he makes me draw the curtains so no one sees him "Walk Away the Pounds"! Next we're going to try Tai Bo.
I haven't lost much or any weight yet, but I have lost an inch off my waist and I just feel better and more energetic and that is huge.
Now for August... I want to say that I will track my food everyday, but that doesn't really make sense. Is that a healthy habit or a tool? I do want to track my food, but I don't know that I want to develop that as a habit. Then I think that since I have trouble with snacking at night, that should be what I work on. I want these habits to be positive and proactive, not negative and reactionary so I think I need to be careful how I phrase this. I think I've got it:
"August's habit to develop is the enjoyment of one healthy post-workout snack each evening."
