Nothing Profound

Thursday, July 26, 2012

I just read a blogger who states she only blogs when she has something significant to say. It was a great blog. I'm glad she posted it. But I like to post even very mundane events and thoughts.

Why do I want to blog the mundane? Could it be because my successful maintenance depends on dozens of simple mundane choices each day? Do I eat the dibby dab of leftover casserole or pack it up? Do I mix up my nonfat milk powder or grab the fattier milk in the gallon container in the fridge? Do I make sure I have enough calories left after meeting nutritional goals when hubby hands me a Dove chocolate? Do I make sure my workout bag is in the car when I need it? These are the little choices that make a huge difference.

So, I wish I had something incredibly profound to inspire each reader. But since I don't, let me just encourage you to make many smart little choices today.

It's the little things that get us from one day to the next.

If writing a blog helps you in any way, even if the topic is mundane, I say do it!!! A blog doesn't have to be profound to touch someone else. You never know when what you've written will strike a chord in another person and inspire them. Many of us are surprised when we read the blogs written by others because we discover that we have similar feelings and/or habits. Keep those blogs coming Marsha!!!

Thank you for this very important perspective. Losing weight and getting healthy was such a profound life change that I forgot it was made up of mundane daily choices. Your example of successful maintenance is very powerful. Please keep sharing.

Seriously, you always inspire me. I didn't read the blog you're referring to but sounds a bit impressed with her written word. Sure, some blogs are more interesting than others but blogging each day helps us all to be accountable and remember why we're on Spark People in the first place. Blog on!!!

And so in the end, it was quite profound after all.. it is the little things as in many areas of our lives that really do add up, isn't it?

Thanks for comments on my blog and for the idea to post the lowest weight for the month..I like that...

I don't know about this dating on-line, I think it may all be fake, how could everyone who writes have their masters? how could all their wives have died in accidents? (unless they were orchestrated by the man whose looking for another victim....) I've asked serveral men if they are real or if the messages are just computer generated, like I am expecting some honest soul to say, "Busted!" and tell the truth...haha!!!

That's life, mostly mundane with some little tidbits of profound throw in to keep it interesting and keep us guessing... and motivated...Lila

remember if we don't get rain in our lives, we won't have rainbows either...

You are so absolutely right and this is so absolutely profound: it is the tiny choice that incrementally make all the difference.

And: it's the smallest things in the world around us that give us the most joy too.

Thanks, SLENDERELLA! You inspire me consistently.

I just don't blog often, but enjoy reading others.

Hey, even the mundane can inspire... just knowing that others ALSO have to slog through the daily decisions to successfully maintain is encouraging, don't you think? Anyway, I'm glad to see them alongside the profound. It takes a bit of both to win.

It is the little choices that will add up n the end, good or bad. Regular blogging puts it all out there and keeps you accountable. No hiding behind silence!

It is the mundane that helps us maintain. There is no magic to it! It's all the things you say Marsha; every day! Thanks for sharing.

Slenderella, I loved it! You are so cute and funny! This blog made me smile and I needed that. I left a response for u on my blog, didn't realize where I was leaving it until it was too late (had already typed too many words by then). Anyways, keep doing u the way u do u! Keep blogging for sure. Whatever it takes to help u reach your goals! As New-Caz put it,"everyone has a voice" and whether it's profound or mundane, to each his own. I don't think profound is over-rated nor do I think mundane is under-rated. I personally appreciate it all! Enjoy!!!!

Every sparker has a voice on here and some blogs are interesting for their take on the mundane, others more serious or informative or just darn right funny! I love them all and the sparkers who take the time to type them up!

Thanks Marsha for giving me something to ponder on emoticon

I like to read about maintenance, and I plan to be there someday. I sometimes need to wade through a ton of crap on the way to my goal, but sometimes I can't see the goal because of the crap. Knowing you've made it through inspires me, letting me know that it's all worth it--even though right now it may really stink!!

Profound is overrated. Write what is important
to you, however mundane. You still can inspire
and motivate other SParkers in some small way.
