Am I the Only One?

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Answer me this: am I the only person that yells at myself when running? I tell myself stupid things like, "Don't be a lazy ass, pick up your damn feet and RUN!" or, "You're NOT going to be the person that WALKS across the finish line, so get a f***ing MOVE ON!" (Yes, I have a potty mouth.) Does anyone else do this? If you do, does it help? I think it helps me. At least, I do end up moving a bit faster.

You know what else helps? Music. Holy crap, I never knew. I just got myself an mp3 player that fits on my pocket. It was cheap, only $25 or so, but my other player is about the size of my new Galaxy S3 phone (read: not conducive to running with). I never thought much about it, but listening to music whilst running is amazing! I also like using the word 'whilst.'

So I'm on target with my running and fitness, not so much with the nutrition aspect. I will freely admit that I cave to junk more that I should (it's not often that I have goodies from my native land in the house, but when I do, it is SUCH a temptation!), but I have been logging everything, and I have been cutting the calories. The scale hasn't moved yet, but I guess it will in good time.

Good news: I'm still off the soda! Over a month now, and I can count on one hand the number of times I've had a diet coke or dew. Water is my new best friend. Is there too much water I can drink in a day though? I find that I'm drinking anywhere between 90 and 120 ounces a day, sometimes more. Overkill?

That's all for now, I'm up past my bedtime.

Tomorrow will be great!

I try to motivate myself. I get really upset when I run about where I "used to be" and that I have let myself get to this point. That's when my other self kicks in and I think - THAT'S IT SISTER!! NO MORE OF THAT BULL!

And OH the music. I start playing BEFORE I plan to workout. It gets me going enough that I can't NOT workout. Of course, I have to remember to put the music on. Just a side note - be safe with the music on though. Tough to hear anything else while the tunes are going.

Congrats on the soda :)

I yell at myself after the exercising....tell myself I could have / should have done more, but hell, I didn't and there it is.
During I always tell myself how well I am doing to try to push harder, obviously though that is not working, perhaps I should try your trick instead you think ?? !!
You are right about the music though, I find the faster the music the faster I move .... God Bless Rock & Roll, LOL

I yell at myself at the end of a long run and it really helps me get that extra burst of energy!
