Are you new to retirement?
Well Welcome to retirement. emoticon
I retired 12 years ago after 32 active years in my career. The first year was a little rough. emoticon I kept thinking about how projects and people at work were progressing. I missed it. They really didn't miss me. emoticon I guess I did not think I was so easily replaceable. A real slam dunk on the ego.
Sooo it was time to pull up the boot straps and get going. There is a very active senior citizens organization for our county. They run 3 semesters of lifelong learning classes. emoticon Classes run all types of subjects, lengths of time and instructors. If it sounded at all interested I signed up and tried it out. I found a passion in photography and some excellent teachers. (Both in taking, editing and presenting). Painting is another, genealogy, writing and on and on. I have made some great new friends there. emoticon I also joined a health and fitness center emoticon and have participated in their programs, classes and worked with several trainers. Again I have found some great new friends. emoticon
I volunteer for my church and library for special fund raisers. I garden, read and participate in my grandchildren's activities.
You will find as you get active you will find people with similar interests and you will make new friends.
My problem with retirement is not enough time. I am amazed that I every had time to work.
So Enjoy each and every day.

    Retirement is heaven sent

I love your blog. Thanks for sharing. I retired 2-1/2 yrs. ago, Dec.31,2009.
Time does fly I agree. The first three months I thought and felt like, I was on a vacation and then realized this was it!! started making plans for things I liked to do and never had time for before. One thing I had to adjust to right away, was the pay. Big difference from when I was working and getting paid every two weeks and also the amount. wow.... Then, I think I realized, how much I saved not having to pay to park and drive, or take the Park n ride bus, and pack or buy a lunch. Amazing how that added up each month. So anyway, I do enjoy retirement and have adjusted quite well. emoticon Everyday is like a Saturday as far as what I plan. I also volunteer at church in many areas, also in a WDS group with friends, love to read, go to the Y 2-3 times a week and enjoy and help with my three little grandkids. I do the newspaper crossword puzzle each day and enjoy that. I like to play Rummicube and Scrabble and lots more.....etc.etc....
My grandkids are 4-1/2 (Peter) and then his cousins are almost 4 (Niamh) girl and 1-1/2 (Liam) the baby brother, that is growing up so fast. Never seems to be enough time, but do cherish the times with family and friends. So happy you are doing so well in your journey and are so motivated. Keep up the good work. emoticon See you on our board. Have a blessed day. hugs, Ei emoticon
