THIS HAS BEEN THE MONTH FROM HE## !!!

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

It's been a month to forget so far.... It all started on July 8th when my modem lost contact with the outside world. From that time until this afternoon, July 24th, I've installed a new modem and it didn't fix the problem. I have spoken to AT & T service repair at least twice a day.

They sent out a repairman three times. The first one went to my daughter's house the first time, why we don't know. (and he could NOT leave her house, go to mine and fix the problem because he's not allowed to do anything but work on the "ticket" he had". The second guy, never showed up.

The third guy at least got the ball rolling. He realized that there were many calls in this same time frame from people in my development.... Today...here I am!! Of course, neither the repairman (who was great...he came back today to see if he could help me with this situation) nor I believe that it's a fix. He replaced something outside wherever the main line in to the entire place comes in from the street. He says "he thinks someone made a call to the RIGHT person and that's what got it working.

I JUST DON'T CARE ANY MORE!! JUST MAKE IT STAY UP AND RUNNING AS I NEED THIS LIFELINE TO THE WORLD!!!!

I think most of us can understand your frustration with that situation. I use my computer a lot more than I used to and I work hard at keeping our wireless system working in the house. When my internet provider messes up I spend a lot of time on the phone and put on my cranky old man act. emoticon I really hope it stays up for you.

I hate when that happens! I've had to have repairs occasionally and I know how frustrating it can be. I also know that I am now so reliant on technology it scares me a little. Glad you are back, hope everything stays working!!

What did we ever do before computers? My computer is my lifeline to the world around me plus I might add a lot of fun games and puzzles. I don't use my facebook too much, but have fun reading what is going on with my grandkids and friends. I guess you would say my computer is my addiction of choice. emoticon

Elaine I am so glad they got everything fixed. I had the same trouble with my phones. Dead. They tried to tell me it was inside the house and maybe I hadn't hung up the phone LOL. I might be old but not senile. Don't they think I checked.
Finally they sent someone out. He checked inside. Nothing. He went outside and came back in nothing then he went down the street and found out it had affected a lot of phones in different areas. Didn't anyone else call? Were they all senile and forgot to hang up the phone. My next door neighbor had no trouble but it was here and there.
I'm glad my computer wasn't hooked on to the telephone line.

Elaine, being deaf, my computer is my lifeline! I'd be totally lost without it, I communicate with many family and friends daily via laptop!

I'm glad your problem got fixed and if it was an outside problem, you're probably all set!

I AM SO ADDICTED TO MY COMPUTER THAT I WENT INTO WITHDRAWAL WHEN WE MOVED AND I WAS WITHOUT IT FOR ONE DAY! IT IS MY ONLY CONNECTION TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD. SINCE I AM HANDICAPPED, I HAVE TO DEPEND ON OTHERS FOR MOST THINGS AND DH NEVER SEEMS TO REALIZE THAT I NEED TO SEE OTHER HUMANS ON OCCASION. ESPECIALLY WHEN SOME ACTUAL CONVERSATION IS INVOLVED.
