Fear brings understanding. Fear is both good and bad. The Bible says “fear not” but we are also told to “fear God.” We have also heard the phrase “feel the fear and do it anyway.” We need to be sure we know what type of fear God wants us to have and not waste time being immobilized by fear of man or the things of the world. We need to have a plan what to do when we are afraid so we can obey God. When we understand fear and when to use it, then we can step out using our fear to help others and glorify God.
Proverbs 2:4-5 “Search for them (wisdom) as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, help us to use our fear as You want us to. Help us to search for Your word and wisdom so we can know what it means to fear You. We know there will be times when we are afraid, but You tell us to fear not. We know we always need to fear You by being reverent to You because of who You are. Help us to seek Your wisdom and only fear You knowing You will give us wisdom, understanding and knowledge so we can make a difference for You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
