4 Months 3 weeks Post Gastric Bypass!!

Its been almost 5 months since surgery and I can now say that I am noticing the weight coming off. For the longest time others said they could see that I was losing weight but try as I might I could not see it. Well I am thrilled to say I see it now! I actually have collar bones, and cheek bones and oh but my thighs are sure skinny now! My legs and feet no longer swell although they still hurt at times but I know the pain is from osteoarthritis rather than the excessive weight my legs was carrying. My blood sugar is also going down and I now believe that in a few more months I may no longer have to take insulin shots! My blood pressure too is going down.
When I first joined SP I struggled to keep under the maximun daily caloric intake but also making sure my diet was high fiber, low fat, low carb and low sugar. Now I struggle to eat at all! Since surgery I no longer feel hungry...I have begun to listen to my body and can now recognize the empty feeling as a sign that I need to eat. I struggle daily with trying to get my day's quota (60 grams) of protein. Don't have the problem with the water, it's just the food. Additionally on some days I am so hyped and motivated but then on others I just want to do nothing.
I do not have a scale and can't afford to get one so I do not know how much weight I have lost to date. My clothes have not fallen off me yet although the shirts are very loose! I really can not wait until I have reached my goal weight of 160!!! I will be dancing in the street!!!
Seriously, food for me has become a daily task that I must do to survive, it no longer gives me the pleasure it used to and I could not be more ecstatic!

Spirit, have you had the gastric bypass surgery? My doctor told me he removed the gland that produces a persons feeling of hunger??

That's great! Enjoy your inability to eat, because around 1 year out that will change and appetite will return. God bless you on your journey toward good health!! emoticon

Congrats on your success. Keep up your tracking to make sure you get the protein you need.
