3 weeks into my journey

Monday, July 23, 2012

I am 20 days into my lifestyle change and am feeling so much better. I am down 11lbs and 3 inches in my waist. I have been able to stick to my dietary changes as well. I am no longer having the cravings for sugar like I normally do. I am now past craving most carbs. I have even gotten to the point that diet pop taste too sweet and that I can't stand drinking them. I have more energy than I have had in quite sometime and my joint pain and abdominal issues have gone away again. I have gone through this before but gave up and let myself slip back into my old habits before. This is an issue that comes with having such a restrictive diet. I also know that I feel so much better and have the proof now that this is the way I need to eat to feel better. It is getting easier everyday to stick to my diet. I use to envy my family when I made a dinner I was not suppose to eat. It's hard when I am the cook for the family and I make stuff that I can't even have. I no longer feel this way. I was able to make stuff shells and didn't even care that I couldn't have it. Instead I also made some chicken for myself enough that I could have it leftovers for lunch.
My kids and I love our workout time together, even the 2 little ones are doing it. I have also notice a great change in what the kids want to eat. They are asking for more fruits and veggies. Yesterday they were so funny when I took them grocery shopping with me. I was picking up fruits and veggies for me when my son runs ahead and sees broccoli. This is something we never have in the house since I am allergic to it. My kids then proceed to beg me to buy it. How many kids beg their mom to buy broccoli. I did buy it and as soon as we got home they wanted it. They had it for dinner last night and loved it. They are also asking for fruit to snack on instead of cookies. I love it! emoticon
I have also been able to kick up my work outs. I have started doing "Barry's Bootcamp". I did my first workout on Saturday, upper body, it was hard but I was able to do it. And for the most part felt great after it. Today the plan it to try to lower body workout. I am sure this is going to kick my butt but I am going to try and stick with it. I will let you know how it goes tomorrow.

Lots of great wins in your blog. What we think often correlates with how we feel.

One of my goals is to work to keep my mindset and thinking positive.

I think about my dietary choices not as restrictive but as opportunities to make delicious and healthy foods for myself.

I really savour the tastes and talk - to myself and others - about how good it tastes - for me this helps to reinforce how fortunate I feel for finding the foods that nourish my body.

Stay Strong

Fantastic! Isn't it nice when our family sees the positive changes we are making to live a more healthy life, and join in with us? How wonderful the kiddos are asking for more fruits and veggies! :) Glad to hear that your diet changes are becoming easier to deal with, it is hard at first I know! Keep up the good work, keep tracking food and fitness, and you will reach your goals in no time!

All the right changes and for all the right reasons. It is awesome that the kids are into it, too. A family that does this together is cool. Keep up the hard work and congrats on all the successes so far!
