Fitness Tracking Query

Monday, July 23, 2012

I just recently downloaded a pedometer app on my phone and this tells me the number of steps I have taken (I indicated the goal as 10,000 steps) and calories burnt as I walk around during the day carrying the phone.
Now I have a query: Can I use this as a cardio tracker? Can the calories burnt be tracked in my fitness page? Or is this a part of my daily activity and so should not be measured?
I am really confused. Can anyone let me know whether to include the pedometer reading or do an alternative exercise? emoticon

Interesting can enter the number of steps taken in the "Other Goals" section (you'll have to go to settings first and chose to track no. of steps). As for calories burned, ideally you should not enter that in the cardio tracker since the amount could be a mix of your BMR (basal metabolic rate) + cals burned due to activity. If you walk for exercise or do any other activity in your day - try & count that separately to account for cals burned just during that activity. This cal burned figure you can track in your cardio tracker...accordingly SP will adjust your nutrition cal range.
