A FEMALE CAT VISITOR

Sunday, July 22, 2012

Hi everyone. For the past few years there has been a beautiful long haired gray and white cat with a big bushy tail that comes and goes around our home. I found out today that it's a she. I've seen this cat for about 2 year on and off. She loves her tummy rubbed. Very friendly, sweet personality. When I first met her she had a black collar on with a small bell. I once taped a note onto the collar telling her owner that she frequents our yard and is so sweet. I never heard back (gave our phone number) but maybe the note never made it to kitty's home. I didn't see her much last winter. Last summer she had been given a lion's cut and looked so cute. Well this last time I saw here she had no collar. I realized she had been staying in our carport at night and most of the mornings. We have a partially closed carport so I put a bowl of water along with some food there. She ate the whole 1/2 cup of food at once so I figured she hadn't been home in a few days. DH bought some food for her today so we don't have to give her Max's expensive food. I don't think she'll have to have food all the time so I will feed her when I see her and watch her closely to make sure she isn't losing wt. I really think she has a home but is used to being outside and likes to roam her territory. I do know if she were my cat I wouldn't let her outside.

Love,
Elayne (Max's Mommy)

This is Max now. Yeah, I saw her last night when see jumped onto the window sill next to where I like to lay in Mom's computer/music room. We meowed at each other with the glass between us. I wasn't sure if I wanted her or not so I meowed at her for a while. She didn't meow back at me very much. Pretty soon she went away. Tonight when I went out on the screen porch she came up to the door and we began meowing to each other. I was meowing louder and louder so Mommy brought me back into the house. When the lady cat left the yard Mom let me go back out. I don't know how I feel about her being around here. I like being the only cat in this house but Mom assured me she will not come into the house and it doesn't hurt having her outside. I don't want her to be hungry or thirsty, but Mom will take care of that. Mom doesn't want us getting close to each other via the screen as she thinks it could be unhealthy. I sure don't want to get fleas if she has them 'cause I don't have any. Mom didn't see any on her but you never know. So, that's my story for today. I'll keep you posted.

Love,
Max emoticon

Hi Elayne and Max! This is Zoey and her Mom checking in today. We are glad that your Mommy is taking care of the poor kitty since she may or may not have a home. I don't blame you for not wanting to take a chance on getting fleas. Sure hope it all works out for this kitty and that she will feel your Mommy's love and maybe even a little from you one of these days!

Hugs from Zoey and Sandi

Hi Elayne - you are a sweetheart for taking care of the kitty. Max - don't worry - your momma has plenty of love to go around. emoticon Hopefully, the kitty still has a home, but just likes to wander.

    Tracey,
That's why I brought Max in from the porch. I didn't want them close even between the screen. I remember battling feas when our Taffy was a kitten. No fun.

New kitty friends are nice but they do share fleas so be careful... my little Nugget brought them home when he got out and shared them with his siblings and with his owners!

I'm glad the lady cat has someplace but wish her owners would at least find out where their fur baby was going. I'm Sure you are interested Max, but your mommy is right, leave that strange newcomer to her own out there and keep safe inside with your family.

I hope nothing happens to her. I worry about animals like her. I have a shiz tsu and a cat named Kitty. I know this past winter we would have two cats that were part siamse I think. The animal control goes through our alley so much I have a fear he may have gotten them. I would always feed them and give them water.

She may be abandoned or she may have a territory she wanders. I hope she has a home to go to, but bless you for providing food, water, and shelter for her. It sounds like she is being taken care of somewhere, but I know that the shelters around here are saying that they are getting a lot of animals from families who just can't afford them anymore.

I'm also thinking maybe something happened to her owner or maybe they just never replaced the collar. I'm the eternal optimist. She's really in good shape. Hasn't really changes since last year. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on her. I can't bring here in the house but she'll be fed and watched over and loved on.

It does sound like a possible abandonment! I'm glad you are making sure she gets food and water and some shelter.

Poor kitty cat! If I could have them around and enjoyed a house cat, I don't think it would be outdoors unless leashed. We do have a major problem here with a coyote that isn't afraid of people and dines on small animals. There are no rabbits, mice or cats roaming here. We keep our Chihuahuas on the leash as the coyote came right through our yard with the neighbor was mowing. Don't want them in harms way.

Max, I am glad your mommy takes really good care of you and your visitor!!

Yeah, sounds like the poor thing has been left behind, especially if she went from wearing a collar to no collar. Bless you for looking after her--she'll really need some TLC now.

It sounds like she is abandoned and now she is going to the one person that showed her any love.

There's no telling Elayne; it's possible she's been abandoned. Sometimes people move and leave their pets behind; something I'll never understand. Bless you for looking after her needs. Hugs.
