She is not doing well at all. She has been diagnoised with Gastroparesis and floopy Colon. Right now, she is in extreme pain and cannot eat or pass anything.
The doctors don't know what to do right now except have her drink meals and she throws it right back up. She is so weak right now and I am scared for her.
I am throwing up my hands and fists with the doctors in Wtn and SF's and packing her up this week for Mayo Clinic.
Here are possible options but...so many varied opinions from "professionals". The problem is...no one is sure where the problem is originating from. Is it the colon not passing bowel and backing up the stomach? Is the the stomach not releasing food into the bowl fast enough and allowing moisture to be evaporated and causing colon blockage? She cannot drink enough without filling up. A half cup of liquid and she is full and burping. A couple of tsps. of food and she feels sick. In fact, she can throw up undigested food two days after eating it. She is following the advice of drs. and has been drinking meals for five weeks and still having horrible pain and issues. Now, they introduced three solids into her diet...and the vomiting began.
option 1....remove her diseased stomach and put a permanent feeding tube into her that will empty right into her small intestine.
option 2...remove some of the diseased colon.
Problem...they don't know which one at this time is the cause of all the problems. Each affects the other.
Remove the stomach and if that is not the source...the colon still will not pass the foods.
Remove the colon and if it IS the stomach...she has gone thru a dangerous surgery for nothing.
Which came first...the chicken or the egg scenerio. :(
There is no cure for gastroparesis and the drugs used to try and treat it come with possible serious side effects. Many have been pulled off market at this time. Lets just destroy the heart and kidneys while fixing this. :(
