Antonym for "outgrow"?

Sunday, July 22, 2012

Six weeks ago I was very happy to fit back into a pair of pants that I had "outgrown." The fit was comfortably snug but I could zip them without too much effort.

This morning I put them on as usual and they seemed a bit loose. So I tried sliding them off without unzipping them. Wow, I could do it! Barely. But I could also slide them back on without unzipping. Wow.

So I've what? Ingrown them? Regrown them? Unoutgrown them? No I have not "stretched" them, they aren't the stretchy kind. I have definitely "slimmed" into them.

I like that "slimmed into," I think it will work. Sounds more motivating (and more rewarding) than "unoutgrown."

Think I'll go to the closet and see what else I've slimmed into.

I have a couple of shirts that I've "slimmed out of" meaning that they are now to big to wear.

Time to take some stuff to the thrift shop and pick up a size smaller.
