That sign is a little terrifying. They should have said to report it to the office, if you can make it there. Ha! I wonder if you can carry something like an airhorn that you could sound off to startle a mountain lion. At the very least the bear-strength mace would be a good thing to put on your pack. Be safe out there!
Those hikes sound incredible! I know you're going to enjoy them! 1786 days ago
Hiking has become the new together exercise for me and my husband. Of course he has to go all out. We haven't even been on our first day hike yet, but he has bought a hammock for overnight backpacking. He makes me nervous, LOL!
We have Bobcats around here, and rattlesnakes. Unlike mountain lions, attacks on people are very rare. Heed the sign, be careful! 1801 days ago
Reminds me of spending 3 months working in an area populated with musk ox and the occasional polar bear. And not being allowed to carry a firearm (IN SPITE OF working TOTALLY ALONE for the first 6 hours of the morning shift). 1802 days ago
Beautiful and i'm so happy for you. Hubby and I are headed out today to the waterfalls in florida and see what is what. I've always wanted to hike and now is my chance to see if I like it. I want pics of the big one at the end. 1802 days ago
