It is not really my yogurt it is Dannon Naturals and we both love it. We do not eat it the way it is. I have been straining it and it gets the consistancy of Greek yogurt.
I found a coffee filter with a handle on it that fits inside an empty large yogurt container. I washed the original conatiner and put in the coffee filter then I dumped 1 cup of the vanilla yogurt into it. I left it in the refrigerator over night and a spoon stood in it easily, it was almost like spreadable cottage cheese.
GD loved it with berries for breakfast I measured her 1/3 cup and she actually licked the bowl. I turned a blind eye.
I looked in the bottom of the container and saw the whey so when I made my usual oatmeal instead of my cottage cheese and banana, I added the whey and it was delicious indeed. I tracked whey and added it twice since I know that yogurt used sugar. I do this with the large container of Plain and it is great to spread on bread or toast to add a layer of mashed berries, oh that tastes good.
I checked it out and I am certain I have a lower calorie and fat content I will keep on tracking and experimenting with this.
I baked 2 of the 5 minute microwave chocolate cakesfrom the single cup recipe and the grands had them with the vanilla yogurt and loved it.
it took just a few minutes to fix and 5 minutes with it divided in to 2 regular coffee mugs. I love this because it called for cocoa powder, very high antioxidants and I subbed 1/2 applesauce for oil. Added half a banana and 1 level tablespoon of brown sugar. They each ate half of it. I also added Ghiradelli chocolate chips I tablespoon of minis.Tonight they helped me make microwave apple crisp they love that too. No sugar added to the gala apples no flour to thicken apples and just 1 tablespoon in the topping and I used canola oils.
We had a great cooking class on a very warm day but they loved those coffee mug chocolate cakes. Check it out on the internet and change things for yourself HUGS Pat in Maine.
