The orthopedist yesterday cleared me for only one kind of cardio: swimming. Since I don't have easy access to a pool, I'm going to have to improvise. Mainly by concentrating on strength training...which, admittedly, has been lacking in my workouts in the past. This is probably the best time to get into a solid strength training habit. I need to be doing something physical, especially since I'm losing more weight. (Down a total of 13 pounds from my all-time highest weight; 12 pounds down since I started this new eating thing six weeks ago.) I don't want to start losing a lot of muscle.
So back to the upper body workouts I will go. I will also do the stretching exercises the orthopedist told me to do for my foot. I may look into chair exercises in the short term. Possibly try to find a pool. But with my time in short supply, I'm better off staying in the house and working out as best I can. It just really bothers me I can't do the cardio I like to do and want to do right now, but better I let my foot heal up so I can do this stuff in the future than start back too early and make the injury worse. I have no idea how bad it is, considering it's been nearly four months since the injury that tipped me into no-man's land. I suspect it will take more than four weeks in a walking cast to heal my foot up, though. We'll see what happens.
In the meantime, no cardio on my feet. Bummer.
