We are having a very small party for my daughter today. She turned 3 while we were in Cape cod so we are having a small party for famly and friends here. I sent out maybe 10 invitations, so its a pretty select crowd (usually i would invite evryone i know but I am getting wiser in my old age). Of course on the invitation I put "RSVP" followed with my phone number. so far Ihave received 2 RSVP and on regret. YEp, that leaves 7 up in the air. Unfortunately, I know these people will come anyway without the slightest care or concern for the fact they didnt let me know they would be here. And its not one invitation per person that I sent, It was one per address, and the whole famly living there...one invitaion was for 5 people (yet still no call to me on their part).
Most is family, and I guess they just assume I know they will be here, but there is an actual reason people put RSVP on invitations. Planning and providing supplies for any games and crafts we may do requires the knowledge of how many will be participating, and of course my largest concern is the food. I love to feed people (clean food of course) but if I dont know you are coming I can plan for you to be here and eat. And when people are at a party (at least mine anyway where I DONT serve dino-nuggets, fruit snack and canned fruit) they eat like homeless people. I mean its as if they have nevere seen food before, and then they ask (and sometimes I offer) to have a doggie bag to take home. Heres a news flash people: Food is EXPENSIVE, and I dont work.
I have a great breakfast buffet planned: I will have 2 crock pots going, 1 with scrambled eggs, and 1 with steel cut oats. For the eggs I will have a variety of fixins on the side (shredded cheeses, chopped veges, catsup). For the oatmeal I will have mixins on the side including a variety of nuts, dried fruit, GF granola, pureed pumpkin, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice (plus others spices and sweeteners). 2 kinds of pancakes sweet potato and blueberry (madelynnes favorite) with Agave syrup for drizzeling. Fresh cut fruit (2 full trays) kiwi, pineapple, strawberrie, blueberries, mangoe, banana, 3 kinds of apples, pears, raspberries, blackberries. Individual cottage cheese singles, organis yogurt tubes, individual greek yogurts (different flavors), single serve chocolate milk (Horizon brand), new V8 caprisun, bottled lipton citrus green tea, Cake!
Whew! I have a few special things set aside for me (like sugar free granola, and SF ice cream) so that I can feel like I am not missing out on anything (which for me would lead to a binge later). So I guess I better get going and finish my cleaning and such! May not be back til Monday :) have a great weekend!
