Recovering from Knee Surgery (pictures)

Saturday, July 21, 2012

I had knee surgery on the 29th, it was not as bad as I had thought it would be... I was super drugged up. The Oxy didn't work for the pain so I was in a lot of pain the days following and had to go back in to see my doctor that Monday.

Fancy water/ice cast

Taking the bandages off after 3 days

My first stitches ever! My knee is the same size as my calf and thigh :(

I pretty much just slept for the first week or so, but then I had to go to PT exactly a week after surgery and I was silly and took my normal bus route wish meant I got to crutch over a mile that day and was in tears by the time I got there.

I busted through the crutch tips right away and had to get new ones, busted through those as well- when I went in for my post op they gave me new crutches and took out my stitches.

Stitches healing.

Goodbye stitches!

PT has been tough, I have for sure shed tears! I have been cleared to return to crossfit for 2 weeks now, but my box has changed and I don't feel like it is home anymore so I am looking for a new box. It is so sad that I feel like I need to leave.

The last few weeks have been awful and a lot of horrible things have happened, my birthday is tomorrow and I lost my wallet yesterday along with my dead mother's ID in it- which is really the worst part. I have replacements of everything else on the way, but I cannot replace that :(. Sadly my social security card was also in my wallet which is really stupid so I could have some major issues with that as well.

After PT today I tried to take a bus home but the driver refused to drop me as the courtesy stop so I waited for the next bus that said they would, they missed the stop and when I got let out fairly far away from home I just lost it and broke down right there on the sidewalk. I cried in a ball for 40 minutes. I would be just fine with tomorrow not happening.

Yesterday the compression sock came off (3 weeks until I can walk) and I saw how atrophied my leg was :(

My scars look like dragonflies.

Glad to hear that the surgery went well. PT is a bear- pretty much them asking you to spend an hour doing all the things that you cannot do :-P Hopefully, things will be getting better as you recover from the surgery; take care of yourself and keep us posted :-) emoticon
