Over coming everything.

Hey everyone. This is my first post so if it's not that great sorry. Anyway the reason I'm here is like most people I want to lose weight, eat healthier, and feel good about myself. So far my determination to do so has fluctuated badly and I'm looking for some help.
Here's a few things you should know:
One I'm a picky eater, and haven't tried a lot of foods although I do want to. I just can't seem to bring myself to eat something new unless I have something else to eat instead if I don't like it. This goes for drinks as well. I only seem to like soda, certain types/brands of water, mio, milk and honestly that's about it. I do occasionally drink tea when my husband can be bothered to make it, but any time I make it the effects are a spectacular failure 9 out of 10 times. Not to long ago I was determined to stop drinking soda and only drink water. Efforts so far have been good, but am unable to get rid of the soda. I mean it comes with every meal I happen to get at a restaurant. It helped when someone told me about mio. Makes certain types of water actually taste decent. So if any of you picky eaters out there have any ideas that can help me out I really would appreciate it.
Two not to long ago my doctor told me I had arthritis in my hip and that I had over stressed the joints in my body from trying to work out too hard too fast. I'm in the military and was getting ready for a PT test at the time so am not too surprised I over did it when I started stressing out over multiple things only one of them being even slightly related to PT. So now here I am just coming off a profile that basically said only do stretching exercises and nothing else wondering what I'm going to do to get back in shape when I feel week as a kitten. All the exercises I use to do with barely any problems I can't now because I cap out less then 2mins/5 reps in. Any suggestions for this?
Third because I'm in the military, married, and just naturally a busy person my time is limited. So any ideas on how to either start making more time or just better utilising the time I've got?
