Another update... some bad, some good.

Another update….

Monday we had hoped to see our house pop up on real estate sites, but that didn’t happen until Tuesday.

The house is listed on all the major realty sites and even a few smaller sites that I’d never heard of so I’m hoping that’ll give us good exposure.

The pictures took another 2 days to show up.

I had NO idea that the process for just listing the house would take so long.

Thursday I got an e-mail requesting that I call the sales rep.

She had some bad news… #7 was sold to someone else… someone that doesn’t have to sell a house first.

She told me not to get discouraged because she still has 4 home sites left… that later got bumped up to 5 home sites.

She also asked why the boyfriend and I have different last names. I responded that we aren’t married and she asked if there was a reason for that. She said she didn’t want to pry into our business, but that if we were married we would qualify to put in an official contract even with the existing mortgage on the boyfriend’s house.

We discussed it and we feel that it would make money way too tight to even try that route though… and in all honesty, I don’t want to get married just to get a house. We’ve been together for 6.5 years and pretty much act as though we are married anyway, but a quickie courthouse wedding so we don’t lose a lot doesn’t feel right.

So I spent most of the day Thursday thinking what’s the point in ever trying to do something in my life when it seems like I always get shot down… blah blah [insert negativity] blah. I even cried a little on my way home.

It’s now Friday and we still don’t have a yard sign to sell our house…we mentioned that to the realtor tonight and she said that the sign company that places the signs is a little behind. I can understand that, but it’s super frustrating because it seems like we are running out of time… and lots.

We put in a contingency contract tonight on a different lot [#206] that we are hoping and praying doesn’t get sold before we get a chance to sell the boyfriend’s house. The price is a bit higher because we’d need a walk out basement, but it’s still a nice lot and in our price range.

The realtor mentioned that she has gotten 4 calls about our house so far… so hopefully something will come of at least one of them. She’s planning to have an open house on the 29th too so we’ll see.

Something that is a little crazy to me is that we still have to go through a ton of meetings to pick out options, etc. even though we are just contingent right now. We’ll have a meeting with the lender within 7 days. Then we’ll have a meeting with the flooring people to make our selections for flooring within 10 days. We’ll have another meeting to choose all of the electrical stuff and the alarm system. And we’ll have a meeting to go over our final selections for everything within a month.

Tonight we picked out the color for our siding, front door and shutters; the colors for the kitchen cabinets and counter tops; and the color/stain for the hardwood floors.

I didn’t think we’d start going through all of that until we had a contract on the boyfriend’s house! I’m just hoping we don’t go through the entire process and then get bumped until they have no lots left. And they still can’t tell us if there will be a price increase and how much it might be on Phase 2… even though they’ve started plotting out the lots and leveling the road, etc.

I just need to keep reminding myself that if it’s meant to be it’ll happen… but it’s SO hard!

The good news is that I somehow managed to lose 2 pounds this week… but I’m scared to track it. I’m worried it won’t “stick”. Maybe I’ll log it if it sticks through next week.

One of the most stressful transitions in life and I'm glad you didn't slap that woman upside the head like she deserved for suggesting that you marry for a house. That's some twisted perspective on marriage.

You've been doing fabulously and go ahead and track that loss, YOU EARNED IT! If it fluxes a bit during this ride of stress it'll keep you focused on the task when you keep tabs on it and not sweep it to the back of your mind for the more 'important' (stress enhancing) things to occupy you.

You're doing fabulous.

Keep it up beautiful!

I think you're coping incredibly well with all this uncertainty. It's very hard, especially when it's about something as important as a house.
I'm still crossing my fingers for you guys! emoticon

think about it this way... a month or two ago you were perfectly content with your home and not even thinking of moving. You have nothing to lose here! I would suggest not settling on a home as this is huge. There are also other great neighborhoods and companies. Don't fret. this too shall pass and if it is meant to be... it will be! make sure you get what you want... you don't HAVE to move and you have plenty of time! *good luck fairy dust*

Home buying/selling is STRESSFUL, no matter how you slice it. Just hang in there. And DO celebrate your two pound loss! The fact that you did that with all the stress is awesome!

Keeping my fingers (and toes!) crossed for you!

Luckily, when we bought our current house, we didn't have to sell another one since we had been living in apartments, so I don't know what it's like to have to go through that but my thoughts and prayers and crossed fingers are there for you!

Oh man, the whole house thing is just a trip. It sure makes a gal want to rip her hair out. Sending big hugs.

Few things are as frustrating as buying and selling homes. Take good care of yourself. : )

You are going through one of the seven most stressful events in life...keep doing what is best for you, and try not to let the process take you over.

Sorry to hear there have been some frustrations along the way. I am thinking your boyfriend's house should sell fast, seeing as how they've already had four calls about it. I really hope it all works out! emoticon Not sure what's with the leaves, but I tried to find a "house" to give you! :-)
