Update on Work Dilemma...

Friday, July 20, 2012

So I had my interview today and to make a long story short, I didn't get the job. The position was for accounts payable. They had already filled the position before they even interviewed us, so that's always fun. It's bittersweet. While I didn't get the position, I could not be happier for the woman they gave it to. This lady has an accounting degree and graduated with honors and was stuck in a receptionist position for 11 years. Yes, that's right E-L-E-V-E-N, count them 11 years! Talk about ludacris! I'm so glad she applied, and that they gave it to HER. My other friend was shocked and appalled that they gave it to her, but my friend will be taking her position and was given a raise. So, yes I'm happy for this lady. She's a sweetheart and has paid the piper. I am kind of sad because I didn't get it, but the CFO that I interviewed with said they'd like to start possibly "grooming" me for other positions. What I hear when they say that is, that they'd like to start training me to cover other people while they're gone and still expect me to do my own job well at the same time. I know my company. That's how they roll. Oh well, never know where your life will lead. Today, I will bloom where I planted.

I'm sorry about the job, but it's nice you can still be happy for the person who got it. emoticon

Bummer, but it sounds like it went to the right person too. When a door closes, a window opens. :-) Bloom away, girlfriend!! Bloom away...

I'm sorry you didn't get the position but it does sound like it went to the right applicant. It just shows you have a big heart when I read this and I know you truly mean it that you're happy she got it. I think this all means that better things are coming your way. Everything happens for a reason!

    Sorry to read this...:(
At the very least your company is taking notice of you (but I can sympathize with being "abused" LOL)

I'm sorry this didn't work out but something even better is just around the corner! It took me 3 or 4 tries to get the job I'm in now; timing is everything!

Good for you for giving it a shot. I have a coworker who won't even try; it's easier for her to complain about how bad it is.

I'm glad you can be sad for yourself, but still be happy for the woman who did get the job. Definitely sounds like she deserved it!

You can't win if you don't play the game so at least you put your name on the roster, ya know? I'm glad if it wasn't you that it was someone who deserved it and not someone who felt entitled to the position like the other lady. (I reserve calling her a friend because a friend doesn't act the way she did toward you)

Just continue to apply for things as they come up and if it gets too bad, start looking elsewhere if necessary.

    Proud of you!

I love that she got it after paying those dues. I hope she loves it!

As for YOU, missy, what a great thing to hear that they're grooming you! You know they appreciate you, so that's a great thing to have in your favor -- also, congrats on PUTTING YOURSELF OUT THERE. Goodness knows, I haven't ;p

Sorry you didn't get the job, but you have a great attitude about it. You never know unless you try, so congratulations on going after it.

Whatever you learn it's your, you can write it on you curriculum, so if they want to teach you, learn!

If after training they don't value you, don't worry another company WILL value YOUR knowledge!

    Have a nice day!
