I'd been trying to post a blog every day, but then we took a weekend trip, and it's a little hard to blog from one's phone.
I thought the streak was temporarily at an end on Monday. I hadn't slept well Sunday night, and then we had a longish drive home. I was exhausted when I got home and thought there was no way I could possibly get on the rowing machine. No, not even for 10 measly minutes.
But we relaxed for awhile, ate a nice dinner, and then around 7:30, my husband asked if I had rowed after we got home. I thought about it for a minute and then said, "You know, I thought I had come to terms with the idea the streak would have to end today, but you know what? I think I can do 10 minutes right now." So, at 7:30pm, I changed into workout gear and ground through a brief workout. I did it!
Keeping the streak alive just for the streak's sake has become a bit of an obsession at this point. Today, I reached my 21st day in a row of doing cardio. I rarely settle for "just" 10 minutes anymore. Usually, I do a minimum of 20. Sometimes, I even do 50 (split into two sessions).
I realize, though, it's not really the number of minutes in the workout that matter. It's the perseverance to keep the streak alive, the determination, that's important. That determination is not only what will get me down to my goal weight but will make my new business a success. I see now how living the Spark really translates across all facets of life. This truly is an amazing process.
I triumphantly wrote a red "21" on my calendar today!
