I hate to update my weight on here when I know it's up. So I waited until it was down before updating (even if I'm waiting months in between updates.) But I'm down a half pound from when I last made an entry.

I don't confess this to too many people, but I guess I'm a doctor-phobe. It's been years since I've been to a doctor (and as I've been pretty healthy I didn't really care.) But I finally did it and set up and appointment and went. My cholesterol is a little high but medication is not required. I'm not diabetic (which I did fear as I have both an aunt and a brother who are.) It's clear I need to lose weight (well doh) but my doctor (and she was pretty cool) agreed that eating right and getting more exercise is the way to go (though she did suggest a supervised food-shake program.) I'm going to give it a really good charge and see if I can lose 15-20 pounds in the next six months or so before I consider something like that.

In other news, I've done a simple scroll template and I'm working on a second one, designed for me to do the calligraphy and hand over to someone else to paint (even though that's my favorite part) as Caid really needs more calligraphers right now than anything else in our scribal community and I want to get people doing real scrolls and not photo-copied award certificates.

Okay! Back to work!

    Congrats on getting a good bill of health at the doctor's! That's major. I'm sure you can lose the weight sensibly without the shake system (I hate those things) over the next 6 months. It will take dedication and perseverance, but you CAN do this.

I also hate posting a gain and do some of the same, "forgetting to update" my weight regularly when I'm not losing. But as long as you are honest with yourself, you will be fine. Positive affirmations really do work. So does the health issues, at least at first (for me).

I love the idea of the simple scroll template. When I was scribing consistently my problem was getting someone to template the scroll for me. It's something I dream about starting again... someday. Right now I don't have the time to commit to anything in the SCA.

Have fun with all of it... as someone once said, make it fun and it will get done.

    Tell me more of this scrolling you speak of. (That was my impression of Yoda, in case you didn't get it. LOL)

I believe your doctor is right, and I understand about only posting when you lose weight. It's hard to be honest with everyone able to see weight fluctutations. Just remember that we are here supporting each other and not pointing fingers because someone had some water-weight gain or something silly like that.

If you can't be honest with yourself, I suggest you start positive affirmations so these things don't bother you as much any more. I have started telling myself that I love myself every morning in the mirror. I usually look through myself when in the mirrors, but I am actually starting to look at myself and tell myself that I do love myself.

It's hard at first, but it's like being honest with yourself as well. If I don't love myself, why even be on here trying to lose wieght, right?

  I feel the same about not admitting if I have gained weight. Your calligraphy sounds like a lot of fun!
