Look at me, itís already day 4 of the 15 day vitality challenge and I havenít even done my start up blog yet!! Iím already slacking on my blogging for my personal 32 day challenge as well! :/ Thatís no good, but Iím going to change that starting now! :)
Hereís a quick update on how Iíve been doing these past few days! I havenít been tracking every single calorie that I have been eating and burning instead yesterday I started journaling it and just writing it all down. Iím not even using exact portions yet. Iím hoping this will be a start to my tracking calories. At least this way I can visualize exactly what I am eating so that I know what I am doing wrong, and I can tweak it to improve my lifestyle! I donít want to cut out anything by any means, I am really going to try the whole I can have anything in moderation itís all about portion control thing. I mean ultimately if I do that and I find myself over indulging I may have to cut something out for a while!! This weight loss journey is going to be really hard right now since I have fairs coming up and that means lots of fried foods, but I know that I am better than all of those fried foods and Iím going to pretend like I donít even smell them!! Here is what I wrote in my journal yesterday for Day 1 of 32: July 17th, 2012:
Wii Fit Age: 18
Workout: Walk 43 minutes
Breakfast: 1 poppy seed bagel with country crock butter (one good thing about me is that I really hate the taste of butter so I only put a little bit on things!! But the bagel is definitely not something that is good for me so I need to work on what I eat for breakfast!)
Lunch: Homemade nachos made w/ homemade salsa, tortilla chips, and sharp cheddar cheese (overall this would have been a pretty healthy meal for me being that I am vegetarian and the cheese provides some protein, and the salsa has some amazing antioxidants in it! However, I fear that I did overdo it on the tortilla chips just a tad. :/)
Dinner: Steamed yellow squash, French fries w/ranch dressing (overall I think I did okay with my dinner because I honestly didnít eat all that much! Plus one thing that I am really proud of is that I didnít go back for seconds! Sometimes seconds are my weakness, but they really donít do anything good for me!)
Snack: ice cream sandwich
Something I accomplished: I set out to clean my room yesterday and I did it! There are some places that are still a little cluttered but overall it looks wonderful, and Iím so proud of myself for finally buckling down and doing it!!
Today I am implementing one of Bob Harperís skinny rules into my program! I am slowly easing into this as I said in one of my other blogs, so this is going to be the only one Iím following until next WednesdayÖunless I do it accidentally!! The rule I am incorporating is no carbs after lunch time. I feel like carbs can be one of my biggest weaknesses, I mean other than diamonds they are a girlís best and worst friend right? Hopefully I can follow through with this as best as possible! Iíll update you all tomorrow on my workouts, weight, and food for the day today. Today the main things I want to get accomplished outside of my healthy lifestyle plan are to get my car washed inside and out, and to clean my steers stall, give him a bath, and give the lamb I am taking to the showing this weekend a bath as well! I hope I can get all of those things accomplished!! Tomorrow is also my sisters 17th birthday!! I am such a proud big sis lol!!
15 Day Vitality Challenge Prompt #1 Day#4
-- What goals are you setting for this challenge (if youíre following the structure I have laid out for you, you are setting a self-love, nutrition, and fitness goal)? Why did you choose these goals? What do these goals mean to you?
Self-loveóBlog almost every day! Ideally I will blog for the remainder of the days of this challenge, and continue to blog for the remainder of the 32 day of my personal challenge
Fitnessódo some type of physical activity every day and write it down in my weight loss journal, I may also track it on spark people if I have the desire to do so.
NutritionóWrite down all of the foods that I eat inside of my weight loss journal, and critique I could improve my eating to help encourage a healthy lifestyle for myself! I may also track my calories on Spark People.
I chose these goals because they should be easy enough for me to accomplish! There is something about simply tracking calories that just makes me grouchy and seems extremely tedious, and Iím sure that I will get there in time, but I think that this is a fantastic starting point. As for my fitness goal I think this is a good one because oftentimes when I set a fitness goal for myself I will say ďyou need to burn this many calories a dayĒ or ďyou need to do this type of exercise every day.Ē The problem with that is that I am being too strict on myself, and I should be proud of myself for any physical activity I do on a given day!! As for blogging every day I love blogging for the support that it gives me, but sometimes I get lazy about it, and when I get lazy about my blogging I tend to get lazy about all aspects of my healthy lifestyle. These goals mean a true start to my journey, and a new beginning, one where I can hopefully be successful in achieving my goals!
-- Why did you choose to participate in this challenge? At the end of these 15 days, what do you hope to accomplish? What do you want to feel like? What is going to tell you that you are headed in the right direction during this challenge?
I absolutely love the 15 Day Vitality Challenge! I have participated in it several times, and it really helps me stay focused, and keeps me reaching more and more towards my goals! I saw on another blog that round 9 may be the last round of the 15 Day Vitality Challenge and that made me really want to take advantage of everything that this challenge has to offer, and to kick my butt into full gear that way I am ready for the day when there is no longer a 15 Day Vitality Challenge. At the end of these 15 days I hope that I have accomplished each of my goals to the best of my ability, because if I accomplish these small goals there is no telling what other goals I can reach in the future! Like coach Lauren always says, ďYou can do anything for 15 Days!Ē That statement is so true, because really what is 15 days in the grand scheme of things? Not much! At the end of these 15 days I want to feel really accomplished and proud of myself! I also want to feel like I have supported everyone else in this challenge to the best of my ability so that others also get the most out of this challenge! I will know I am headed in the right direction during this challenge if I continue blogging every day, and if I write down everything in my journal.
-- What is going to be different when it comes to how you approach your weight loss this time?
This time I am going to take my journey slowly! I am going to focus on reaching my smaller goals that I set like those goals that I set for the 15 Day Vitality Challenge, instead of focusing so much on my ultimate goal weight of 125lbs. If I focus on the smaller goals I will eventually reach my bigger goals! It is going to take some time, and lots of hard work, but I know I can do it. Another way that I am going to approach this differently is that I am not going to worry about the end date so much anymore. I mean we all like to have a goal date to be at something, but Iím not going to worry about that. I am going to focus on doing this the healthy way, and if that means that I need to move back my weight loss goal deadline 50 times then I will do it, because I am worth whatever it takes to make myself the healthiest me that is humanly possible!
Good luck reaching your goals everyone, and Iím sorry that this was so long! I just had a lot to say today haha!
