Week 2

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

I'm tracking my progress for the next 12 weeks. That's how long I'm hoping it will take to reach my goal. I am now on week 2.
So this week has been a lil weird. On one hand the scale started going up which kinda freaked me out, but I had been eating some extras on Sunday and then Monday, after trying to help my sister shop for a car she asked me to stop for Margaritas LOL. Alcohol has been the only slip up, besides that I eat SUPER clean but I didnt want that to get in the way of my progress. I also began kettle bells and man I forgot how sore my thighs can get.
But I'm proud of myself. One problem I've had in the past is either convincing myself I cant work out because of muscle soreness or pushing myself so hard that I take one rest day too many and then I fall off the wagon. It may be because of the kind of exercise I was doing. I only do about 15min of strength and then I do my cardio. I got this theory from twin muscle workout on youtube.
They say that in order to get lean and toned, it makes no sense to burn yourself out because you can burn muscle too and that defeats the purpose (you will lose weight but also muscle mass which takes away from toning) So the idea is to do cardio 5x week 15-30min, intense enough to get your heartrate up but not enough to where you cant talk or you're about to heave lol. and to add strength training in 3x a week to build muscle to assist in the fat burning process. Diet is like 70% of the process as well.
I think working out this way is doing the best for me. For the 1st time since I had my 1st son, I can see my 3 pack again lol. And thats only doing 100 crunches 3x a wk on my strength training days. Besides that 15-20min I do for that I run/walk for 20-40min. I am now up to 2mi and can finish a 15minute mile. 10 is my next goal. Once I get up to 3 miles I wanna start participating in Black Girls Run events.
I'm so excited :) I'm 27 and I feel like I'm taking back control of my life! Oh yeah and the scale finally started dropping again. I went from 196 yesterday (sadface) to 192.8 this morning (HAPPYFACE) I am also participating in the smaller jean size challenge. I have issues with skirts and dresses but there is this one dress I REALLY have been wanting to wear for almost a year now, and its my goal to make it look great.
Thanks everyone for the well wishes be blessed on your journey!
