SURGERY

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

So......have a semi-major surgery coming up, have gotten into shape, developed regular exercise routines, but now it's all going to be interrupted. Docs say I'll be in hospital minimum of 3 days if I heal quickly (I plan to heal quickly) & at least another two weeks before I get my stamina back. I suppose since they want you on your feet pretty quickly that I'll at least be able to obtain the minimum of walking around for 10 minutes. Haven't broken my streak in close to two years, if not more, so......hopefully won't now. (Altho' believe it or not, I'm NOT obsessed; just don't want to fall off the wagon, so to speak.)
I'd love to hear from anybody else who's gone through this, how things went, etc.
Thanks.

I think you've got a good mindset. You've got to take care of your body - and it seems that surgery is something your body needs...Your doctor will tell you what you can/can't do when you get home and are healing. Follow your instructions, do what you can, and you will be successful!
Good luck and get well soon!

Hey, good luck on your surgery! Great job getting in shape beforehand - that will really help you recover quickly. I had hip surgery in 2010 and was ahead of schedule during my entire recovery period. I attribute that to the years of training I'd done leading up to the surgery. I don't know what kind of surgery you're having, but my main recommendation is to have patience and don't push yourself too hard. Your fitness will help you recover quickly; pushing too much too soon may lead to injury.

Good luck, Sue! This will be a challenge. You will probably be able to get up with help the day after surgery.

Prayers headed your way! emoticon emoticon

Being in good health is a definite plus!
Please check our GUITARWOMAN's SparkPage. This lady walks over 15,000 steps per day but recently had foot surgery. While she has had to cut back on her physical activity she has found other ways to stay active.
