3, 2, 1 Cake

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

A month or so ago my mother sends me this forward about the 3, 2, 1 Cake. At first I thought it was some crazy forward my mother was sending along but when I looked at it I found this simple cake recipe for one person.

Between me remembering to add the ingredients (only two things) to my shopping list and vacation I just now got to making one. And yes, it was good. My daughters ate theirs right up and I can't wait to make mine.

Ingredients are: 1 box of Angel Food Cake Mix, 1 box of your favorite flavor cake mix (I did chocolate) and water.

Directions:
1. Mix both cake mixes in a ziplock bag.
2. Put 3 tbsp. of cake mix in a microwave container. Store the rest of the mix away for another day.
3. Add 2 tbsp. of water and mix.
4. Microwave for 1 min.
5. Eat like it is or add your favorite fruit, whipped topping or powdered sugar.

Now, some of you may be like me wondering on the amount of calories. After adding the recipe into MyFitnessPal (what I prefer to track calories) I found out the following nutrition info.

Calories 177
Carbs 37
Fat 3
Protein 3
Fiber 1
Calcium 11

Remember, this is based off using a devil's food cake mix so nutrition info will very based on which cake mixes you choose.

I hope you all give it a try and enjoy that next your sweet tooth attacks.

I was just thinking about this today. Let me know if you figure out how to make it without sugar. Since I am now giving it up I am avoiding the mix I have in my pantry. I was wondering if they make a sugar free versions of the cake mixes. I know they do that for Jello's cheesecake but didn't know on cake mixes.

Okay, I am trying to make this from scratch so I can leave out the sugar by replacing it with Splenda. The problem I am seeing is the anglefood cake recipe is so loaded with sugar. Not sure I want to deal with cake after all. So far I haven't made it because of trying to figure out what I want to do with it.

I notice there is no egg put into it and no oil. Interesting. Those are two of the worst things for me along with the sugar thing. I'll relook at it and maybe get farther on it this time.

House is carepeted now and between work and projects, I may give this a try. We do like our dessert, but I try to make them a lot healthier than they are by the food packagers.

Thanks for the recipe and the idea. I will keep playing with it until I get something that can work for us. I'll let you know.

Sounds good and easy and fun. I will refrain from trying it only because it has sugar in it and I've put my sweet tooth to sleep and don't want to wake it up again. However, I may try to figure this one out by using ingredients from "scratch" and then doing as your directions say. It may take longer, but I can eliminate the sugar and hopefully some of the salt or use substitutes so it tastes good. Chocolate would be what I would go with. Anyway, thanks for the idea, and the recipe. I'll have fun trying to make it, then I'll come back and let you know what happens.

I just made this cake - it was so yummy. I used a white cake mix with the angel food because it was what I had. Turned out really good.

Very cool. Having small portions works best for me too. I'll try this sometime!

I love this. When I make a cake for me and my husband we either eat too much or throw some away so this will be good. Thanks.

I had my first batch last night and it was so good. I put a 1/4c. of blueberries and strawberries with a little bit of powdered sugar! YUM! And yes, it is like a fluffy cake. Amazing!

Thanks for sharing. It's quick and easy and seems like you won't feel guilty about eating cake because it's such a small portion enough to cure that sweet tooth.
