About Pearl

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

Hurricane Irene decimated my bicycle last year. The replacement parts have been on back order since then, so my husband took me to Tarjay yesterday and let me pick out a new bicycle! It is a Schwinn with ample seating and handle bars which can be adjusted upright. Pearl came with a matching helmet and was reasonably priced. With my mountain bike, I had the problem of my hands falling asleep because of all the weight I rested on them on the flat handlebars. Not so with Pearl. I sit upright and ride. I have already taken her out twice. Once downtown with my husband and two of the five boys (I know, 5 BOYS), and once to my therapist's office and back. She was pleased to meet Pearl.
After my husband gets home from work, we are going on another family bike ride. Maybe Pearl has been the missing link. I am going to try to ride her at least once every day, track my food daily, and hope for the best!!!

I have a nice Schwinn, too, that is just a cruising bike. I haven't ridden it in two years! Thanks for the inspiration! When this heat gets less, I am going to ride!

The way this bike is designed, the knees and belly do not touch. Trust me, if mine don't, yours won't. It adjusts several ways.

This is awesome! What a great way to get some activity in - and spending family time to boot! Good for you!

I've been thinking about getting a bike for some time now, but have shied away because 1. I'm afraid I'd be bumping my belly with my legs, and 2. I haven't ridden one in 20 or so years!

I've made some progress in my weight loss goals, maybe the legs whacking into the belly won't be so bad...next time I'm in Target maybe I'll brave it and sit one one to see how it feels... baby steps! haha!

Thanks for inspiring me!
