Hello, my name is Patti, and I'm a Stress Eater - BUT NOT TODAY!

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

OKAY - so we have major stress at the moment. My youngest brother is in surgery for a liver transplant. He's been fighting a rare form of liver cancer since his diagnosis in December. I could go off the rails and eat stupidly. God knows I've done it before! But not today! How does that help Darren? How does that help me? I'm saying prayers for Darren and his wife, Amy, and their two little boys. I'm saying prayers for the donor and his family who are going through so much during the tragic loss of a loved one. I'm saying prayers for strength for me to take care of ME while I take care of what's going on in my family. I am eating right today. I am exercising today. I am taking care of ME today. I'm a Stress Eater - BUT NOT TODAY!!

Today is certainly stressful. You could be forgiven if you turned to anything that would make you more comfortable. Count this as significant a victory as the pounds lost. If you can pull trough this without slipping up, you are well on your way to a new, healthy lifestyle.

As others have promised, I too will be praying for you.

Wow! You are truly amazing and should be sooo proud of yourself. Prayers for all. I have a friend who recently had a liver transplant and is doing really well. His life has been changed. Hang in there.

Your family will be in my prayers. And I'll also pray for the donor's family. An organ transplant surely is one of the most bittersweet medical procedures: so joyful for the recipient's family that at last a donor was found; yet at such a cost to the donor.

You must be on pins and needles today! You don't know me from Eve, but I am SO PROUD of you for finding the strength not to give in to mindless eating. We all so easily reach for something that brings comfort when we feel cornered by the world... drink, cigarettes, food. Good for you for resisting the urge!
