SP - srsly?

djyall get the Daily Spark today?

The top two headlines:

Your 5-Minute Summer Shape-Up
Summer's not over yet! There's still plenty of time to tone up and bust out that swimsuit. Our newest workout plan takes just 15 minutes per week.

Quiz: Are Your Weight-Loss Goals Unrealistic?
You might be committed to losing weight, but are your expectations setting you up for failure? Here's a reality check on what to really expect along the way.

Irony? Anyone? I love, love, love what Spark is and what it has done for so many people. But every once in a while it seems like they forget their mission to spread TRUTHS about health and fitness, rather than playing the same nonsense games as the magazines in the grocery checkout line.

Seriously, who in the world is going to workout 15 minutes per week and magically wake up bikini-ready? And by Labor Day, no less! 15 minutes is a great place to start if you're easing yourself into exercise. I applaud your 15 minutes! But it's simply not a formula for being svelte in no time. In fact, there really is no formula for being svelte in no time...a fact SP has helped so many people by making a point to reinforce. Why, then, the misleading claim now?!

Tisk, tisk, SP.

I noticed this particular one when I logged in today. (August 14! even less time left in 'summer' than when you posted this x___x) It did seem a bit silly to me. I guess if someone was already at the lower-end of the 'ideal' body fat % for their body it might give the muscles a little extra pump. Otherwise though? Even if the exercises weren't completely useless at toning those muscles, it's not like most people would be able to really see their results from only doing those. emoticon

By the way, I just joined this site and I really love your blog. :) Hope you are only away temporarily enjoying the rest of your summer. emoticon

I think I read it differently than you :-) I didn't think it was meant for me...still need to loose 20 some pounds, but more someone at goal weight just needing to "tone" some trouble spots.

Looking at the bottom picture, even at goal weight I doubt I could hold my body up like that!
