Monthly Update Blog

Monday, July 16, 2012

So this is an update on my current progress with some of the goals I have set for myself. It has been up and down and heck I guess you can say round and round too. Crazy is a way to sum it all up. I do well for a while and then I tend to slip back into my old ways. Which, is why I think that every time I do really well and loose alot of weight it just comes right back and always brings a few new friends along...if you get my drift. Anyway my three goals that I started with are as follows with a couple of notes on how each one is going......

1. Drink 8 8oz. glasses of water a day or more
This one has actually been going alright. There are a few days that I don't get my full 8 glasses but i get some. Also I have pretty much switched to drinking only water so it's not hard for me to achieve this goal.

2. Go to the gym/workout at least 4 times a week.
This has been a little touch and go. I tend to get in a groove and then fall into vacation mode. However, as far as this goes I am determined to keep this one and you shall see why if you keep reading on. Finally, as far as this goal goes I can say I am LUCKY to have a husband that pushes me to go to the gym even on days I don't want to, s that is helpful.

3. Check into Spark people each day...to check in on my teams/challenges and also record food or fitness.
Same as above.....this is hit or miss. I try to check in, but sometimes i just don't. I'm weird like that because sometimes I just don't feel like messing with the computer. However I am going to work on doing better and maybe at least tracking food and fitness on my App.

My final BIG goal was.....

I would like to loose at least 60 pounds (or more of course) by December 31, 2012. In order to stay on track with this goal I would need to loose about 10 pounds in a month or about 2.5 pounds a week
This hasn't been going to well. I think I can attribute that to the fact that as I said before I fall back into old ways easily. So I'll do well and then gain back what I lost. The past few weeks I seem to be hovering around the same numbers. Hopefully next week I can break the cycle and just loose!

Finally, I have to admit I have come up with a new goal and this one I am DETERMINED to achieve! I have decided to run a 5K in November. It is now July so basically 4 months away. Today I actually started my first day of 5k training (which is why I need to make sure to keep up with my 4-5 times a week at the gym). By the way keep in mind I am not a runner by any means of the word, but I do wan to get to the point in which I can run most of the race. The link below is to the race I am running....looks like total FUN!

So this is my updated blog for the month....I am hoping I can turn things around and head down the better path....leaving my old ways behind me! Until next time....GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR GOALS!

Yeah so far (only 2 day) training has gone better than expected. I'm not dead yet LOL. But I am thinking it will continue to get easier as I go on. I already kinda noticed a diffrence between day 1 and 2. My race isn't until November so I still have plenty of time to train. The program I'm working with now is 8 weeks. emoticon emoticon

I just recently heard of a color run and it sounds amazing. I so want to do one. I've been working on training for a 5K. I plan to walk in my first one in August then go from there. I have found that having a goal like this encourages me to work out more. I hope it does the same for you. Good luck!

I'm doing the color run in Ypsilanti on Sunday and I'm so excited!

One thing that has helped me in the past is keep a calendar and on the days that you achieve your goals, give yourself a gold star. Or give yourself a star for each goal achieved. There's always room to tweak it to make it motivational for you! emoticon

Keep your goals small - baby steps will lead you to your bigger goals. You can do it!
