Getting Serious

Sunday, July 15, 2012

I have struggled with my weight ever since I quit smoking and went from working a labor intensive job to a desk job. I put on 70 pounds in a year, and it has stuck with me. I looked great as a size 8, and that's what I'd like to get back to. I'd also like to put on a chunk of good muscle. Being as small as I am, I'm built naturally very much like one of Tolkein's dwarves, hence the login name.

I'd rather look like one of World of Warcraft's dwarves - more muscle, less flab. I'd also like to clear up my skin, be able to run [a marathon], and maybe take up a sport.

I've been able to drop a good twenty pounds in the last six months, which I promptly put back on when I relaxed, thinking I'd made good progress and didn't have to stress is as much anymore. Lesson learned. No more yo-yoing. I'm getting serious.

Well, at least you know that if you were able to make progress before, you can do it again. Sometimes lessons like that remind us that we can't dive back into bad habits and expect to maintain the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. I know I've been there plenty of times myself. Here's wishing you the best of luck on your journey to better health! Keep it up! emoticon
