Need Spark Support, Please

Sunday, July 15, 2012

My spark is weak since returning home. Hard to get back to tracking, exercising, and changing my schedule again.. Need a new routine for doing my exercise since I am now on a day shift and different people and things are in my space.. No energy to start working out at 10 pm when I need to get to bed at midnight.

I need a little boost, friends.. Messages on this post or my page or goodies or private messages are all helpful.

I did take a mile walk with my son and dog (well, the first .75 mile with them and then the last bit alone). We're going blueberry picking now (my son and I).

change of plans, cut finger badly in two places, had first aid, typing one handed, how do i know if stitches are needed?

If the bleeding won't stop or it stops but then reopens with little reason later get stitches.
As far as getting back on track do you have a smart phone?
My huband and I downloaded the diet and calorie tracker by sparkpeople and it has definately kept logging food and excercise on our mind. It also has a calorie differential page that puts your burned and eaten calories together and shows you if you are in the neg. or positive calorie zone (negative being the good place). I read that a little over 3000 cal. is what is in a pound of fat so for each set of days my negative calories add up to more than 3000 I see that as a pound of fat. This is also helpful when the scale is stubborn (which happens to me often due to water retention) so I do not get discouraged. emoticon

If you see any bones stitches are needed or if the cut is very wide/deep.
I miss your dancing videos! Is there time for you to do one? I hope you find a way to get back into the swing of things and soon. You are such a wonderful person you deserve to be happy and being active on SP seems to make you happy. emoticon

You've gotten great advice from other Sparkers and I'd agree with them. I can only draw from my own experience and this is it..... Yes, sometimes it's hard, no one said it was going to be easy, but carrying all the extra weight isn't easy either. At the end of the day it's black & white we either do it or we don't. I tell myself to just SUCK IT UP and get the job done. No whining, no excuses, no procrastinating. The change that comes from consistency & perseverance is priceless and you deserve it.     Get up a little earlier than usual and use that time to work out. If I do not work out in the morning, I miss it all together. By the time I get home from work I am too tired to care. Praying for your finger.

Hopefully the finger is OK now with bandages and pressure or stitches, if you got them. I think, according to Louise Hay, fingers represent the details of your life. Her affirmation "I am at peace with the details of my life" may be helpful at this time.

In terms of reigniting your Spark, of course I recommend babysteps and loving yourself. You are more than your workouts and the numbers you track. Be gentle with yourself as you adjust to the new schedule and other changes. Focus on small attainable goals in terms of eating, exercise, emotional balance, spiritual practice. Don't push yourself too hard, and be kind to all your parts.

Wishing you the best! Blessed Be, Amanda emoticon

If you want to accomplish it, you will find a way to do it! My sister is the perfect example: she is the only one who works in her family. She takes care of everything that needs to be done, which set her back with her health. Once she decided to make herself top priority everything started changing for the better. She's down 30 lbs, exercises every day, and eats healthy. Does she have support from her DH? Not really, but she does it anyway. When it becomes important to you, you will move heaven and earth to make sure your day is what you want it to be; everything else will fall into place. But no matter what you do, do NOT give up! This is just a temporary set back. I haven't been able to exercise for the past 3 days due to a back injury; I am disappointed and really bummed out, but I am so looking forward to hittin' the gym tomorrow! Stay strong and know that we are here for you!!!!

I think the first thing is to get the rest you need and then take some "baby steps" regarding food and exercise. A walk followed by a nutritious snack, drinking a big glass of water, laying out your exercise clothes including shoes (I keep mine in my bathroom so I see them first thing and it is automatic for me to put them on). Track a few simple things just to get back in the habit of tracking. THe most important thing (in my experience)? Encourage other Sparklers - tell them what has worked for you and you will, in the process, remind yourself that you have the knowledge and the willingness will follow. Take care!

READ A BLOG BY "INDYGIRL" ON PERSONAL QUESTIONS. IT WILL REALLY INSPIRE YOU. THEN GO TO HER PAGE AND FIND OUT SOME OF THE THINGS SHE HAS TRIED. SHE HAS HAD AMAZING SUCCESS AND THERE IS LITTLE THAT SHE HASN'T FACED. IT COULD HELP.

You would only need stitches if the 2 edges don't come together and it doesn't stop bleeding. That is the first criteria the MD's will look for. Good luck with the rest.

Sorry you are struggling! Believe me, I know how it feels to lose some of your Spark and want it back so badly but being unsure how to get it back.

I agree with your other friends who say to go small with your goals and build back up again. It won't take long to get that spark back as long as you're doing something towards your goals.

You are a SUPER motivational/inspirational sparker here...so maybe try to think of what you would say to another Sparkfriend that was struggling, then use that advice on yourself.

I know you'll pull through this slump; you are too strong not to! :)

I am just completing my first week back on SP and am starting to remember how good I felt when I was on here before. I am just taking things one day at a time and making small changes. This past week I concentrated on heating healthy and keeping portions under control. This week I will add in working out daily and get my water in everyday. Just remember that you are worth it and that you can do it. Keep your head up and keep smiling. emoticon

You finger on the other hand if it looks really bad have it check!

If you can't get it to stop bleeding after about 10 minutes of constant pressure then I would inquire with a doctor or nurse... Hope it stops!

As for motivation... Maybe get to bed earlier and get up in the morning and do your work outs? You have come so far and are so strong. You CAN do this and you CAN keep going! YOU ARE AMAZING! Chin up dear... You got this.

I usually take some time to think about how good I will feel to meet my goals. Set some smaller goals or steps toward your goal and enjoy meeting them. Success begats success. It's addicting!

Best of Luck
