Getting back there

Sunday, July 15, 2012

So being away from home for the week of 4th of July didn't really suit me. I know I ate way too much ice cream and way too much food - but I enjoyed every second of it. I know that I also didn't workout as much since all I could do was walk on the beach, but that barely broke a sweat since I was with my parents' dog who likes to smell and dig for crabs. I did go on a bike ride with my dad though. That was a lot of fun! I have never ridden a road bike before and riding with cars was a ...unique experience, to say the least.

About a week prior to vacation, I had gotten down to 157.8 lbs, but I quickly found myself between 160-162 for the week right before going out of town. When I came back from vacation, I wasn't all that shocked to see that the scale read 170.6. I was expecting it, to say the least. Yes, I was really disappointed in myself, but I wasn't going to let that stop me. Being back here, with my gym, with my routine, is what I needed and I'm excited to be back. The past week has been great. I've eaten well, gotten in AMAZING workouts, started strength training again (I'm loving the burn!), and have seen the scale drop. This morning was 166 - possibly 165 - maybe even 163.8. The 166 was right when I woke up, the 165 was when I woke up a few hours later, and the 163.8 was in the afternoon after my workout (which surprisingly is generally what I will weigh the next morning...). So I'm definitely on the right track and getting back to my pre-vacation weight. I'm excited! I can't wait to reach the 150s again!

In other news, I have successfully fit into many different styles of size 12 jeans (this was all pre-vacation, but the pair that I bought fits fine right now!) and I'm able to wear size medium scrub pants! We went to surgery the other day and had to wear hospital issued scrubs instead, so I got a medium for the pants and they fit! I just have to buy a new pair though! I only have 4 more days of lab, and then I won't have lab for a month and a half or so, so I have time before I go out and buy the smaller pair. I think I will when I re enter the 150s. I'm excited to have scrubs that actually fit! I'm not going to buy smaller tops though, that's just too expensive. I can manage with getting 1 pair of pants though!

Food. I love me some new recipes and I have definitely found a favorite. Goat cheese and prosciutto wrapped asparagus! Take some herbed goat cheese and spread it on prosciutto, then wrap that around some asparagus and bake it in the oven until they smell good. They are AMAZING. It's a great appetizer for finger food and about 6 or 7 of these makes a perfect dinner for me!

I am definitely feeling motivated again though. I mean, I've always been motivated to lose weight. I will always go to the gym and eat right (when I'm not on vacation, at least!), but I'm not always motivated to be on spark. But I am again and that makes me happy!

But I have to go study now. Yuck!
