My first ever race and a new personal best!

Sunday, July 15, 2012

I finished the 5K Race for Life this morning in 34:02, which I am very proud of! That includes the annoying slow jog you have to do to actually get to the start line, and also the dodging around all those people who join the runner's group and then start walking pretty much straight away (rage).

It was great, great fun, and I raised over 300 for cancer research. I've been giddy with pride and happiness all morning and into the afternoon - I can't believe I actually ran a race! If someone had told me a year ago where I'd be today, I would never have believed them. I've had a big smile stuck on my face and I've been dancing around, clutching my medal. I'm just so happy with what I've achieved and who I've become.

We got a bunch of free stuff at the end - moisturiser, coupons, protein shake powder, granola and stuff. I bought a t shirt - they made one with the name of everyone who entered the race on it - and everyone was so so friendly.

I can't get over how much fun I had - and I set a new personal best for outdoor running! WOOOOHOOOOOOO!
