On today's FSC Red, White & Blue challenge, we were asked how we do with eating over the weekend. Well....

I've had an epiphany in the last couple of months that the reason I keep staying basically the same weight is my weekend eating habits. I do well on challenges - losing during the week - and then BOOM....the weekend comes and it's kind of a "reward eating time" for a job well done....NOT GOOD!

It wasn't really an "all or nothing" eating pattern, but it was enough of a letting loose of the more stringent eating pattern to undo what good I had done during the week. Oh, and by "week", I mean only 4 days (Monday through Thursday)....because by Friday I had weighed in and felt it was okay to "treat" myself. What I realized is I was eating healthy 4 days and not-so-healthy for 3 days.....NO WONDER I WASN'T LOSING!

I decided it was a ridiculous pattern....a real time waster....self-sabotaging - I could be at goal by now!! So I decided to change 2 things:

1) I was going to treat the weekend like any other day - there is NO TIME OFF! I have to eat every day the same, one meal at a time and make an effort to pick healthier choices that I enjoy. It's about liking what you eat and not treating it like a "diet" - I don't want to feel "deprived".

2) I decided to use the meal planner on the Nutrition Tracker (mine happens to be the Diabetic one because I'm low-borderline and it's a healthier plan for me). This provides me a healthy, balanced meal plan for the day with little effort from me (I can swap things out if I need to), and I know my meals in advance for shopping.

My goal is small - 1 lb a week. I'm doing way better than I was, but had a little "hiccup" with a knee injury (no movement for 2 weeks had me gain 1/2 lb). BUT I'm tracking daily, and making better choices....and my weekend eating has turned around!

Eating foods that you like is key. Treating each day as a healthy eating day. Finding balance.

I think the girl's got it!

I have done the same thing. Weigh in and it's no holes barred for the next several days!

Good for you!
