We shouldn’t be afraid of other people or the things of the world. What they do or say can’t hurt us. Other people are really not any stronger than we are even though they may appear to be smarter or richer than us. Even the people who have roles of leadership aren’t able to stand up against God. Our fear should be only in God. His power is greater than anything or anyone. Fearing others or being afraid of things that haven’t even happened yet is just a waste of time. Fearing God can help us to grow closer to Him because we will learn more about Him and have a greater relationship with Him. When we do that, He will help us to stand up against the things and people in the world whom we used to fear.

Isaiah 8:13 “Make the Lord of Heaven’s Armies holy in your life. He is the one you should fear. He is the one who should make you tremble.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we know it is hard for us to understand how we are to fear You and not man at times. Please help us to know what You mean when You tell us to fear You. Please help us to stop putting our fears in man or the things of the world. We know You are all we need to help us in all things. We are to make You first in our lives. We are to put You before anything or anyone. We are to live as You want us to fearing only You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
