Today I walked my first 3 miles. ( Well actually, as I think about I did walk about 5 miles a few times in my life but that was about 15 years and 65 pounds ago! lol )
Early this morning (6 am) my husband had to have some lab tests done at the hospital lab. I had him drop me off about a mile from the hospital and I walked to meet him at the lab. We had a light hospital breakfast afterwards he went on to the senior center to play pool, and I walked from the hospital on to my daughters house for a short rest and to see my granddaughter and then on home. About 3 miles exactly!. I have been working up to 3 miles for a few weeks. I had not walked that much in so long. I hope to one day jog that far but I am not sure I am ready yet. It took a bit over an hour for the walking. About 1 mile of it was up hill and the other 2 were either level or down hill. But I did it!
My daughter is about 100 pounds heavier than I am and for the last five or six weeks, (since school let out) we go up to the college and walk the campus at 6am. Together, we have worked up to 2.5 miles.
Right now I am feeling very proud of myself. I hope the scale will show improvement but even if it doesn’t I am feeling great! Tomorrow I have my 6 month dental cleaning at 730 am. And I am going to walk there. Perhaps about 3 miles there and if I am up to it I’ll walk back home. If not I’ll call my DH and have him come and get me.
Hi JBlossom! I just read this blog today (9/5/12) and I saw your post that you were feeling better. How has your summer been? I hope you post another blog soon and catch us up on everything. What a wonderful gift you and your daughter are giving each other by encouraging each other and taking a walk. Keep up the good work! 1962 days ago
That is so wonderful! Congrats! That's really fantastic that you walk with your daughter too. It's so nice to have support! Have a wonderful walk to your dentist in the morning!! 2017 days ago
Good for you! Please do NOT let the scale rob you of your positive feelings! You are making progress... so much more important than ANY number on the scale! Hopefully it'll go down, but if not... remember how great you felt after your three mile walk!!!! 2017 days ago
