A running experience...

Wednesday, July 11, 2012

So I suggested a great new "tab" idea to my boss (a special section that gets inserted in our paper that is a little bigger than a TV guide or so). I was working hard on a mock-up...21 pages of majesty done and only 3 left to go before I could turn it in for approval.

The my computer ate my file.

No joke. It just disappeared.

Now as a graphic designer cmd+s is my best friend. But when your file disappears from the drive? I instantly wanted to cry. But instead I left work a little early and went for a run.

I went for a run because I knew I would be beating myself up over this stupid thing unless I got the anger out.

So I ran. and ran. and I ran an entire mile without stopping....then I...yeah you guessed it....I saw my lunch again.

But I was still pissed. So I kept running. Every time someone looked at me funny I stomped my foot on the ground a little harder as I ran. By halfway through the second mile I needed to stop and I ended up walking almost the rest of the way home...(was it my fault my iPod chose to play Skyscraper? I can't run to that song and didn't feel like digging out my iPod to scan when I was almost home).

But I still sprinted to the end.

Now that the peanut butter sandwich is gone, water is emptied, my face is no longer tomato red and I don't feel like I'm going to faint..I feel pretty good. The only thing still bugging me is the blister I created AND broke on that run. :S Looks like flip flops for the next couple of days for me.

To restart the project tomorrow...grr.

You had quite the day, however, be very proud you tackled your stress with a run !!!! Hoping your blister is better and you were able to recover the file. emoticon
