What other people eat

I always used to think that thin people were naturally thin, and I suppose there's an element of fast metabolism for some people. But clearly there are other things.

I once worked with a girl who was in a constant struggle to keep her weight above 100lbs. She would upend the olive oil bottle over a plate of rice, for example. Never worked for her. She simply didn't like eating too much junk because she didn't like the 'hung over' feeling that she got the next day.

Now please don't think I spend all my time watching what other people eat, but my oldest friend, who is German, is worth watching. She watches her food intake constantly and one thing she does is make sure she eats least and slowest of everyone at the table. It's a mite irritating, but it certainly works for her. Another thin friend once commented to me that she noticed she didn't eat as much as most people. She simply wasn't that interested in food. My sister in law's like this too, dead picky about what she eats and she clearly only eats because she has to, to stay alive. She likes meat, potatoes, chocolate and not much else.

So when I compare them with me, I see where the pounds pile on. I LOVE food, I LOVE eating! And here's the other thing: if I could change with one of these people who actually don't like food much, and be as thin as them, would I?

I'm not so sure I would.

    Yeah I know what you mean.
    I have a friend we're the same height - but well over 100lbs weight difference between us.
    She'd eat a huge dinner (3 plates of spaghetti) but barley 200 would calories passed her lips the rest of the day.
    I can down 3 glasses of water in a go; she'd have to sip 1/2 glass for over an hour.
    Bodies and personal habits are just so different.

    Great post!
    Me, I eat way too fast. It has been hard for me to slow down
    in my eating, I want to jump up and do something else not
    eat more though. It is like I am bored with eating, which is so
    daily or something. I haven't figured myself out yet.
    At our cell phone store in town, they hired a new gal who
    is a walking skeleton. My thin friend was getting her phone
    worked on and her arm next to Ms. poor skeleton gal... it was
    so frightening-this worker had no muscles hardly at all in her forearms.
    I guess we all have our problems with food, one
    way or the other.

    I do that too...ALL my friends are tiny...and they eat crap and DRINK a LOT! It does bug me that I have to count n stuff...but I have noticed since I work out more than parting and hanging out there's less drama in my life and I feel awesome! emoticon

    I'm also amazed at people who "forget" to eat or lose their appetite when they are stressed. I'm such a stress eater...I wish I could even out a bit with one of them!
