I got flowers at work today. That happens once or twice a year and it's always exciting. Today it was totally unexpected, it's not my birthday or anniversary. Sometimes hubby will send me flowers on the anniversary of our first date (May 10, 1969). I always love getting flowers. Something about how short their life span is, makes them even more precious and beautiful.
The flowers today ended up being from one of my profs, who doesn't work in the summer. He is, however head of the Graduate Committee and I am the Coordinator, so I think he missed having me around, you know, somebody he could e-mail and would do his errands for him!
A co-worker brought the flowers up from our main office on the first floor. The flower delivery person complained of having a bad knee. (I'm thinking maybe she should get a different job then?) So I asked my co-worker to snap a picture of the flowers. Then I sent my prof a thank you e-mail with a picture of me holding the beautiful bouquet of one dozen red roses.
When I saw the picture of me holding the bouquet I got today, it made me remember my infamous "Before" picture. It's the one that I think shows most accurately just how fat I was. Oh there's several pictures that pretty much portray how bad it got, but I actually posed for this picture (I avoided pictures like the plague before), because hubby had sent me flowers on the anniversary of our first date. This "before" picture is from 2007 I think. I found the comparison amazing.
As much as I hate those pictures from before, I don't think I will ever grow tired of looking at before and after comparisons.
