So far, I am doing well with my recovery from hip surgery. Thank you for all the positive encouragement.
The chronic hip pain I have been having on and off for 3 years is pretty much gone. I am very optimistic that this hip surgery will resolve the issue. (I should say issues, labrum tear, torn cartilage, etc. )
I am watching my calories closely, and have lost a few pounds. I am making sure I have plenty of protein for my hip to recover.
Now that I am past the 2 week point, I have started physical therapy. I did a lot of strength training prior to surgery. I had hoped that by building up the muscles in my lower half that it would help relieve my hip pain, which did not work. But as it turns out it did help by building up my muscles to prepare for this surgery and for being on crutches.
The physical therapy exercises for my hip are not big calorie burners, but do work the muscles in my right leg/hip. My left leg/hip gets exercise since it must bear my weight. My upper body get some exercise from the crutches. I have added weight training on my upper half, using a seated upper body strength workout from Coach Nicole on the Spark Exercise video.
4 more weeks on crutches to go!
