Back in black to take another crack...

Wednesday, July 11, 2012

Well, just my shirt, with brown shorts and royal blue Saucony trail shoes.

So it has been a while since I blogged. I ran my half in May in really hot conditions, with a two mile uphill near the finish. Came within 1 min 30 sec of my personal best.

Ran a 10 miler in Baltimore and PRed it in early June.

Trained for and rode a biking century (100 miler) with 5000 feet of vertical climb with SPer BOBBYD31 in late June.

Began the first week of official training for the Marine Corps Marathon this past Sunday.

So those are all on the plus side.

I have let myself down on the food side.

I dropped over 15 lbs in the first three months of the year to reach maintenance again. I was in a groove, like my early Spark days.

I hosted some fellow Sparkers around Just a Short Run, at the end of March. I set aside my laser like focus on nutrition tracking for the visit and never picked it up again. As time passed I paid less and less attention, until I paid virtually no attention. I squandered all my hard work earlier this year and am now up 12 lbs from my low, going into marathon training.

Time to pick myself up, dust myself off and get back to the hard work of marathon training and prudent, controlled eating.

I'll report in as training progresses...

Getting a bit off track with nutrition monitoring can really sneak up on us all. It happened to me, too; my goal is to lose about 5 more lbs before my marathon in October. We can do this! emoticon

JoPa, you can get back there, no problem! You know how it's done and you KNOW you CAN do it!!! Grab that laser like focus back and maybe you can teach us how to hone in on our laser like focus, I sure could use that!!! Hope you're having a great weekend!

John, fantastic job on the fitness front!!

It's hard to stay totally on with the eating. You have to eat every day. So every day, you are confronted with choices. Many chances to get off track. BUT! Many chances to get back on track!

You have been really busy. What marathon are you training for. You know it would be nice if we all reached and stayed at maintenance. Personally I suspect it's like cleaning up the house. I'm going to slip up from time to time and have to refocus and get it done again and again.
