OK, I have been counting calories for a few days and, of course, my weight has been obediently dropping every darn day.
I find the process of calorie counting leads to self-correction - where I see I'm going astray I start to adjust.
This works particularly well if I enter foods in as I go throughout the day, but I know from past experiences that it also works if I just enter stuff at the end of the day - the next day is better, or I know that I need more X or less Y. (Right now, I know I need to get more iron into my diet, 'cause I'm consistently falling short.)
I've been avoiding doing the actual counting for the last six months as I was hoping that I could bring about a nice, gradual loss with just journaling... but that hasn't been working out as well as I wanted. (Partly because weight-training has been rearranging the furniture, rather than leading to losses-on-the-scale, partly because I was not terribly consistent with the journalling!)
I've made visible progress in the last six months, but I am ready to step up my game and make the next six months really count... and to do that, I'm going to be counting calories. Because it works. It really does. It always does.
Onward!
