If you haven't noticed yet, this is the year of the YOLO, or #YOLO. For those of you that live under a rock, it is an acronym for YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE. Yes, it is annoying hearing it everywhere, but when you sit down and think about it.. it is a pretty cool concept. People are always so scared to do new things and take risks (with the economy the way it is who isn't?), and it is a shame that they live such a sheltered and hum drum life. So this summer, I have embraced my inner YOLO, and I am doing things like hanging out with friends more, dancing, going to the beach, doing new things like The Color Run and surfing, and just looking life in the face with a smile! I have been dealt a pretty poor hand recently, but it is what it is and you have t just roll with the punches.
With that being said, I have been thinking about how I want my body to be. I want to be more athletic, and lord knows in the summertime, it is HOT and it sucks when all you want to do is wear some shorts and a tank but then you become self conscious about your back fat and your thunder thighs and decide instead just to sweat it out. It is a shame! Any who, with stuff like this I need to be HELD ACCOUNTABLE... so I thought... let me make an acronym of what I want my new life changing attitude is going to be about.. similar to YOLO... but my own. I looked up some inspirational acronyms and I came across a few I liked. For example:
PEACE: Pursue Excellence and Cherish Everyday
WIT: Whatever It Takes
GOYA: Get Off Your A$$ (okay, I made that one up)
In the end I chose TNT: Today Not Tomorrow
Why, you ask? Because you ALWAYS hear that person, "Oh, I am going to start my diet tomorrow." "I am going to work out everyday, starting tomorrow." "This is my last piece of chocolate! Tomorrow I am swearing it off!!"
TOMORROW comes and goes. TOMORROW you never start that diet or start working your butt off. TOMORROW you eat that candy bar. But once you make that not so great choice, don't just think that you blew it... it is actually a GREAT thing that you recognize that was an UNHEALTHY choice! So now what are you going to do. TNT. Today, not tomorrow will you start making healthier choices. TODAY you will eat a peach with honey to satisfy that sweet tooth. TODAY you will walk around that block (like they say, you are lapping everyone on the couch), and TODAY you will make minor changes, but a HUGE step in the right, healthy direction. TODAY PEOPLE!
So, to keep myself accountable, I want to take time once a week (Saturday) to RECAP my week of TNT. I want to see progress. I want to see my body change into a strong mechanism that it is SUPPOSE to be. I want to feel fit, healthy, and look darn good in some shorts and a tank come next summer!
