I have been trying to stay on track with my eating and exercising over the past couple of weeks - while life has been very hectic. I weighed in this morning and I have lost .5 kg this week - back on track......
Life will always get in the way and it is important to separate the things that we cannot control from the ones that we can. The only person I can control is ME!!!!!
I cannot control the current situation - however I can make decisions about what I am eating and drinking and exercising - spending time at the hospital is no excuse for not taking care of myself!!
The food stocked at the canteen in the hospital is a selection of pies and sausage rolls which are microwave heated - sandwiches on white bread, filo pastries, cakes, biscuits, danish pastries, potato crisps, sweets, and chocolate bars, canned soft drinks, bottled water, caffeine enhanced drinks and a selection of hot chocolate, coffees and teas.
Since I am gluten intolerant - there is nothing available which meets my needs, so rather than complain, I have had to become more proactive and take my own foods, fruit and nuts to snack on as well as a bottle of water- since we never know how long we will be there.
I make sure we have a protein breakfast before we leave, to keep the hunger pangs at bay. At lunch time, I walk to the local mall and get a salad.
I made a large pot of Beef and Vegetable Soup on the weekend as well as a crockpot Chicken Casserole which I have frozen in meal sized portions, so that if we get home late, it is easy to heat up and have something filling, warming and nutritious.
Normally, in a past life, we would just stop for take-away on the way home, but we are now making better choices.
I am determined not to fall back into emotional eating - it would be so easy to just binge on coffee and chocolate bars since they are so accessible - but I am so proud that I have learned to make better choices and we are following through.
The secret is to plan, plan, PLAN!!! No more excuses!!!! I can do this!!!!
I am sorry that I haven't gotten around to thanking you all individually for your support - I really appreciate it.
