Today is my 26th birthday! Twenty-six years of not being hit by a bus! YAY! Achievement unlocked.
This past year was amazing. I have made new friends, learned new things, and discovered my femininity and womanhood.
I was part of an amazing team that built a house in Ensenada Mexico for a very deserving family. I gained a "not-my-daughter" and a "hermana mexicana" to whom I would give the world if they just asked. I did my very first 5k. I made amazing new friends. I learned (kind of not really) how to play the guitar. I discovered an obsessive love with movement and, more specifically, belly dancing. I lost quite a bit of weight and gained some self-confidence and self-esteem, two things I had never, ever had.
And I learned to whistle!
I survived quite a few sicknesses and a deep depression, being tricked into separating from my group in NYC with no cell phone and a date from Hell that could have lead to something terrible.
The good, the bad and the ugly have strengthened me and changed me quite a bit.
All in all, a banner, red letter year.
Here's to my 26th year. May it be filled with love, adventure, a new job and new home!
