My son, Nate, heads out Wednesday for 4 months of bootcamp in South Carolina. I've already cried many times thinking about it. We are having a big 'sending off' party for him Tuesday night with his FAVORITE marinated grilled venison steak [with tons of sides] and his FAVORITE cake--3 layer German Chocolate! Last night we took him out to supper and had SUCH a fun time!
My sons Nate and Jonathan just returned from a week long fishing trip to the Boundary waters [Minnesota/Canada] and LOVED it! Here are some of their most WONDERFUL catches!
Here they are laying at their site:
Check out their fish fry! WOW!!!! And they also made fish chowder and all kinds of other fun meals.
Nate's 33 inch Northern Pike:
I just finished my first 10 day streak--walked 3 miles daily, stayed within my calorie range 8 out of 10 days, drank at least 8 glasses of water daily, and ate between 5 and 20 fruits/veggies 9 out 10 days. I also lost 2 pounds in those 10 days. Now for my next 10 days--I LOVE how this is motivating me to be consistent again.
Here is the link to the team--Streak to Success:
Last night we had a NEAR tragic incident with our little pocket parrot. Stephen had walked outside with him, and he flew into our TALLEST Oak tree! My two oldest boys climbed the tree and had to cut a branch to get him. Well, they were slowly pulling him in, and he FLEW AGAIN! This time to a birch tree-and we were so blessed to even see where he flew since he's very camouflaged! Anyway, one of the boys climbed the birch and caused the top to bend almost to the ground and he then jumped onto Stephen's shoulder! Oh, it was SO harrowing! Not only seeing my boys in harm's way BUT the thought of not seeing our little guy again was heart wrenching!
THANKFUL to have him back inside!
Both bedrooms are painted and put back together. The bathroom is painted and the tile floor is being laid and it looks so beautiful! I'm SO thrilled! Tomorrow it will be grouted and then the new toilet goes in. We are ordering a custom vanity and granite top. And we are getting new door, plus custom closet organizers. I feel SO blessed to have such generous parents who are helping us with all our remodeling projects. My mother told me she would rather do it now when she can see me enjoy it, than me getting it done after she is gone [I CAN'T even go there!] THANK YOU to my sweetest parents!
Supper is cooking, 3 of the kids are on a fishing excursion, and 3 more headed to work, with Mary and Sammy playing outside.
I've been helping my 4th son with enrollment at the Community College, and working on my tutoring schedule for tomorrow. I got my 3 mile walk in this morning, and have THOROUGHLY enjoyed walking with my neighbor, Mary. And GUESS WHAT! She has joined SparkPeople. On tomorrow's walk, I'm going to explain the tracking tool to her. She is THE SWEETEST person! She said she wants to lose 60#'s, and I'm so thrilled that we can encourage each other in the journey.
Well, I better get busy.
Love and hugs, Susan
